Moderators Shouldn't we have a countdown to ending this takeover thread. Maybe announce a deadline for posts to this thread. I'd love it to be given the funeral it deserves, so that well wishers can have the opportunity to say their final goodbyes, then bury it.
This record breaking thread was Henry's baby and this child has had a dodgy time with it being taken fishing and forced to watch homes under the hammer. To pay homage to the "Sale of Charlton" thread we should carry on for "the next two weeks are critical" and allow a 14 day summing up of the trial and tribulation of this baby thread that became a giant of a man thread before allowing the daddy of this thread to have the final words before leaving CL and moving on to his rightful place in the Museum with his family. @Henry Irving must be given the final word for the sake of Symmetry.
The very last post on this thread before the deal news came through seems rather fitting.
“Also known as pure conjecture, like most posts on CL“ - @Dazzler21
Reverse psychology always works. Or does it never work? Just to confirm it was in reply to @Chizz stating he believed that we were closer to a No from the EFL than a Yes.
He's selling.
If nothing else comes from this thread of almost 150 pages, at least we can take away this one fact: he's selling.
He may not be selling today, or this week, or this month. But, he's selling.
We all want to know who the new owners are, what the price will be, how much money they've got, what their plans are, who we might sign and what is going to happen to The Valley. All of these remain firmly up in the air. But there's one, cast-iron fact we know: he's selling.
He won't want to lose more money. Despite how some people present the opportunities to offset losses against tax, he doesn't want to lose more money. No-one does. It's a stain on his business record, it's a loss to his prestige, it's a drag on his resources and it's a diminution of his - and his family's - wealth. So, either sooner or later, there is no doubt, whatsoever: he's selling.
I want to know when and I want to know what's next. But, I can wait. And, if he's reading this, I have one message for him - I can wait longer than you, Roland. Not least because, unlike you, Roland, I have nothing to lose.
And that's why this thread - despite being inconclusive on a number of issues so far - is so heartening, uplifting and positive. Because, sooner or later, there's no doubt about it now: he's selling.
I didn't realise, when I posted this, that it would take more than two more years. And that, in fact, I posted it much, much closer to the beginning of the thread than the end. It was, however, worth the wait. The long, long, long wait.
Ive every sympathy for anyone working and not being able to celebrate, but if its any consolation I'll be so pi55ed by kick off time I'm sure to miss the game.
1st time I’ve ever been happy to be off sick. feel like absolute shit! Can’t wait for it to pass and be able to crack a bottle of something open!!

The problem with that Soapy is that Henry just isn’t the type who wants to have the final word... :-)
What a brilliant day, firstly the takeover, then an order for £7.2 million as Del Boy said we had worse days.
Great stuff, a £7.2m order sounds good, do you mind if I ask what you do?
I design very large bespoke industrial refrigeration plants. We sell them by design, it highly specialised, but made a good life out of it. Not many orders about for that amount, done about 4 now in 10 years.
I shed my tears of joy when the news broke in late November. Today I just feel a huge sense of relief and massive pride that so many Charlton fans united once again to fight for the heart and soul of their club. All of those thousands upon thousands who played a part in ousting Duchatelet and his regime, take a bow, and enjoy those beers!
Been driving all day returning SB junior and his girlfriend to university so just catching up belatedly. What a relief. I’m delighted but strangely not euphoric. I feel relief fat the divorce but still have a huge amount of pain and resentment in me. It’ll pass, probably very quickly. Pouring a large scotch to celebrate. Huh!
