  • Championship side Charlton Athletic have been taken over by East Street Investments, subject to approval from the English Football League.

They have agreed to buy Charlton from Roland Duchatelet, who had been trying to sell the club since the end of 2017.

Tahnoon Nimer and Jonathan Heller - chairman and CEO of Abu Dhabi Business Development - join as directors, with Matt Southall becoming club chairman.

Charlton fans had held a series of protestsagainst Belgian Duchatelet.

  • i just did a little sex wee
  • Middle Eastern money, wonder why they bought us.
  • Just saw one tab on my phone was still on the statement

achieved following promotion has been outstanding. We will do everything possible to support Lee’s vision and ambitions.

We would like to thank Roland Duchatelet, his team and the directors for helping to facilitate a quick and smooth sale. They leave the club with solid foundations on which we can invest and build.

Any deal of this kind is subject to the approval of the EFL and we are now working closely with them on the final details to satisfy their Owners’ and Directors’ Test. Until that has been received, we will be making no further comment.

But please be assured we intend to do everything within our power to bring back a true sense of pride to Charlton Athletic Football Club which is the least the fans, future generations of supporters and the community deserve.

  • Really happy
  • I'm shocked, surprised and happy all at once as I never thought this day would come.

I can now end my self imposed exile and will be back as soon as the takeover goes through
  • Companies house suggests a newco (as expected).

Only director appears to be Michael Blood, who looks like a solicitor with a load of directorships. The new, improved Michael Slater?
  • OH MY GOD
