Don't get that either. Tiny ground, no room for expansion, and 2 better clubs (including one of the biggest in the world) within 5 miles.
Plans for new ground and near fashionable west End
Years away from happening though, and in West London building a new stadium is incredibly difficult
Qatar may be watching Wolves closely, a midlands club with a glorious past rising up again is a good template for Villa and Forest, especially the former.
Never been itk. Never likely to be itk. Don't shoot the messenger. But... talking in the pub yesterday before the game with some Luton that my son knows and one asked me about me being happy that the takeover was close. When I laughed he said that one of his mates was going out with the daughter of a major part of the consortium. When I said "the Aussies", he said "No they're British, and it's a lot closer than people think" - probably BS and just aimed at getting me to buy him a beer but thought I would share and push the thread to higher heights

Thank god I live in Battersea!
Battersea, Balham, Clapham. They’re all a bit too SW for me ;-)

How low can Roland go? Firstly, he insists that the EFL buy the club from him. Now, he plants a Luton fan, in a Charlton pub, to spread the word that a sale is close to a British consortium... huh
This is the price being mooted (supposedly) for a well run club who have just spent 2 years in the prem. This just highlights what a fool Roland really is

Its why he probably doesnt care about the Football Club and is happy to sell that part for free
What he probably wants in an ideal situation is the death of Charlton so he can turn the land into property development
£70m for that sort of land in London? - Hence his asking price?

There are a number of reasons why that can’t and won’t happen.

There were a number of reasons why the EFL couldn't buy the club, yet it didn't stop Roland from trying....

Roland will die before Charlton
Who inherits the old scrots assets has to be a cause for concern if he croaks whilst he is still our owner.

That’s his argument, but no one’s buying it. Literally.

Why would he waste more than £70 million just to buy the land for property development,he could have bought the club and then closed it. at this point he would not get £70 million for the land as property prices in London are stagnating/falling.
RD considers all the money he has put into CAFC to be an investment which he is entitled to be paid back. The EFL he regards, or he has done at least until fairly recently, as some kind of investment broker whose function it is to manage the League on behalf of its assorted investors/owners etc. That's surely what he thought when he turned to them so publicly for help recently. What he is only just realising, and has so far failed to come to terms with, is that EFL is not in the business of asset management at all. Nor are they responsible for running a renowned sporting competition. No, instead they are the operators of a giant casino they and their partners in the football industry have created and developed over the years.
The Owners and Directors test is merely a check on credit-worthiness, just to make sure the latest punters they let in through the doors are good for their debts because, as EPL2, sorry, the Championship clearly shows, the chance of making even just a modest loss these days is constantly increasing. The EPL's chief executive is not exactly the boss - more precisely he is the casino's chief croupier, or to put it another way, he is the ringmaster of nothing more than a colossal sporting circus.
So this is where RD has got himself into a bit of bother. The money he has shelled out, and continues to do so at an impressive rate, is not an investment. It's a succession of stakes, intrinsically worth nothing more than the random accuracy of a punt on red or black. His wagers over the past five years have been a resounding failure aside from a bit of luck with a few lucrative player sales, and in reality our grand old club shows him nothing more than a few tattered betting slips.
And just for a moment look at the books in another way. If we accept that the mainstay of a football club is its home league fixtures, in our case 23 of them, and the yearly outcome of all our club;s activities is to lose £10 million plus, then for the pleasure of being our latest owner and investor, and hearing his name cursed and vilified at every turn, RD is laying on - for these very ingrates and foul-mouthed nobodies - a succession of sporting events at a subsidy from his own pocket of almost half a million quid a time. A million a month he's paying to entertain many thousands of people who all hate him with a vengeance.
Why should Saturday's euphoria turn into Monday's misery? At a moment of extraordinary triumph how come we find ourselves in this appalling situation? Does any of this make the slightest sense to you?
As I see it, were on a false dawn as fans, yes we want promotion, but, were about to lose half the team come June, and anyone silly enough to think Roland will put his hand in his pocket for next season?, not a chance in my view, if a buyer hasnt shown this summer, I fear for the club.
