kept referring to his knee injury and how he hopes to strenghten it over the summer.
hopefully may put people off

he prob looked a bit tense as I imagine he does want to go for the good of his courier but is playing the game for charlton by not stating he wants to go which could help us get more money.
as i said i got told he was the other night. and this is coming from no one related to the club. related to his family.
so the club will probably sell him...
I think we pretty much know he's off though. I know we all want to keep him, but think of the money we will have made on him, and we can buy lots more players for that. He's been great for us, and isnt the sort to slag us off when he leaves, so we will welcome him back when we are in the Prem once again, he really does need to go somewhere else for his England career as well, much as I love Charlton, our players are mostly overlooked for the England places, and with Euro 08 coming up, I cant see he would want to be with Charlton and in the Championship as well
The problem is IMO I think he wants to stay for one more year as he knows Steve Mc has no time for him so It will not damage his England chances as he has none it seems.
But we are in money trouble, not to the extent of Leeds, but we over spent last year.
We spent this summers transfer budget, paid millions due to the changes in managers and we had originally budgeted for the bumper pay day in prem football next season and according to what Dowie told the board possibly UEFA cup.
Instead we now have a championship income.
We will be lucky if, touch wood, we get 18mil for Bent that may only just cover most of are shortfall.
Unlike me to be optimistic but I've got a sneaky feeling that he'll still be with us when the season kicks off. Don't know why - just a hunch I've got.
(I also had a hunch we'd beat Blackburn the last time I felt optimistic about Charlton though!).
[cite]Posted By: kinveachyaddick[/cite]he was at the Valley in the gym last night
I played down there in the football aid game
amazing to be on the hallowed turf
good luck to everyone playing this evening
Was he? using alongside normal members? I used to be a member there but gave it up recently.
I thought his spangly domeside home might have an internal gym.
We keep him a year and he shouldnt drop in value. If we dont go straight back up we can flog him, if we do go straight back up we don't have to spend as much getting a quality forward - so in a sense we would be lending him to ourselves. Of course there would be risks involved..
My take on it is that he's a decent lad and looked uncomfortable because he was lying to the reporter. The way he reacted after the game at Anfield suggested to me he knew then he was off. We've gone and bought 2 new strikers this week as well.
I also believe the board spent a lot of money last year knowing they had 1 major saleable asset in Bent and that's also a reason why he will go.
Yes, why buy 2 new strikers, as well as possibly (arg) keeping Big Bent, as well as Dickson etc, if we are keeping Bent as well. I'm sure he will go, but I hope the club take it seriously and dont just sell him to the first person who makes a decent sized bid, but wait and get as much as possible. The guy is brilliant, great attitude, great game, would love to see him win stuff with someone like Liverpool.
If he goes to Spurs or W Ham I will not be amused...

Said that weve done alot for him and hes also repaid us with the goals hes scored... looked a little bit tense,
50/50 was his body language , yet I think we all know its closer to 90-10 .....
If we could keep him........ heres dreaming eh....
hopefully may put people off
