Le Shuttle Folkestone

Assuming a few will be taking this route on Saturday morning. Just wondered if anyone intends to head off in convoy and if so what's your crossing time?

We're on the 09.20.

No we aren't Seth. We're on the 9.50.

Its a far better class of shuttle than the 9.20

The way things go with Le Shuttle, you could both end up on the same one anyway.
  • The early ones are for theV,I,Ps - we are on the 8:20!

There must be a 7.50 then  .
  • I'm not a fan of the Eurotunnel (company)- in April we were going to St Truiden on a reccy, when there was a problem which caused 5 hour delays for the trains. To cut a long story short, we decided not to travel , and got let out via a side road and back to London - however, Eurotunnel (when they decided to eventually talk to me ) decided that i HAD travelled and refused to give me a refund or a free trip nor communicate with me.
Their customer service is worse than the pits.

  • Their customer service is worse than the pits.

    But not worse than CAFC!!

  • When it works it is nice and fast, but I've been delayed a few times on it. I prefer the boat myself but my wife booked.

Isn't the "shuttle" that thing with all those lorry driver types? Sounds very common, almost Millwallesque. ;)
Premium class Eurostar for us a @PragueAddick with a a meal included and access to a bar (which is nice).
Seriously, Im being driven to the station by another Charlton fan who isn't making the trip but offered to give me a lift.
Charlton fans are a different class.......

Think the shuttle is the train that takes vehicles and the Eurostar takes passengers only.

Probably done well over 100 crossings through the tunnel.

A couple of times there's been a problem and once we diverted to the ferry as we knew there were issues after a fire.

And once some damn fool forgot their passport

I'm surprised you're not taking the Shuttle... Would give your German Shepherds great practice for chasing certain people down the road ;)

I wont mention the first time i was on Eurostar, 95% of the passengers got food poisoning! Ok it was only railway staff and before they started taking fare paying passengers, so I assume its improved a tad.

Correct, and completely different companies. Eurostar customer service is generally above average, I find.

Bet you're not paying £60 return though.

Ahem. New Jag includes carbon payback.
48mpg to Shrewsbury and back- fuel bill we be about £20 each.
You do know how much concrete and steel is used to lay a railway track, let alone power the overhead cables 24/7.
Though I do admit not being able to hit the speeds of the train I can cruise at 150mph all day until the tank empties, whereas you have about 20 stops to make.
I get to chose who sits next to me.
Oh and heated seats is always a bonus.

    Are you walking to Ebbsfleet?

  • And where, pray, will you be cruising at 150 mph?

And when you say, "until the tank empties" if your personal tank doesn't require emptying after six hours of driving, I salute you. I also tend to get hungry, and seek out the dubious delights of the service station

The Eurostar Buffet Car Gang is full of CL big names, and I am honoured to join them, but thank you for your concern.

    Kind regards,

    "Mr Smug" in seat 61

  • This seems to be turning into one of those Top Gear tests

OK @PragueAddick - the bet is total time taken from the moment you leave your house to the moment you get off the train in Sint Truiden.

Mine will be from the moment I leave my house to the moment I pass the St Truiden sign at the roundabout next to the Stayen.

Prize - a nice hot Belgian waffle purchased from the Town Square with whatever topping you like.

I have no doubt that your recorded times will be 100% accurate as will mine.

Mr 'slightly concerned about the weather' in the heated drivers seat.

I do wish you'd stop winding them up @PragueAddick
Ps. What time do they serve breakfast on the Eurostar? ;)

Alright, you are on. But don't take it too seriously, get yourself there safe and sound and ready to roll. the bet won't be won or lost on a few minutes on the motorway. If TCE and I make that 4 minute connection in Brussels, you are toast. Or rather waffle. But we might become toast racing to get it.

Looking forward to seeing the Jag cruising round the Grote Markt

PS, I plan to leave my Mum's gaff at 08.15 for the 09.15 Eurostar.
