They can't figure out the other formations KR keeps trying, so I doubt trying another one will be much use. The team looks disjointed and as though they hardly train together at present.
Just hope it's not a hat-trick of home games I'm having to come out and be anoyed about a red card. But you can't hold your breat with the prat we have as ref on Saturday. But that said he was undewly lenient with the tackle on Granty a few years ago.
Firstly, huge congratulations to Karl Robinson, who, on Tuesday evening, became the first manager to lose a home league fixture to Oxford United in the entire history of Charlton Athletic, costing me £25 in the process. Well done Karl.
Here's a good statistic for optimists, delusionists and straw clutchers. Prior to this season, Charlton have been in the same division as Bury on only three occasions since 1970 and won promotion every time - 74/75, 97/98 and 11/12.
Here's a good statistic for pessimists, realists and any masochists looking for something to do on Saturday afternoon. The last time we won a home fixture against Bury, Harold Wilson was Prime Minister, England were World Champions, the Ford Cortina Mk 2 had just been launched and a magazine called "Fiesta", which went on to feature heavily in my extra-curricular GCSE reading list, had recently hit the shelves for the first time. 22 October 1966, Charlton 4-0 Bury. Not sure who the scorers were, but I bet there's someone on here who was there and can tell us.
Anyway, enough reminiscence. Things are so dismal at the moment that it seems even the club are embarrassed by just how useless we are, and have decided not to bother promoting Football for a Fiver this weekend. Luckily, we've got a manager who is shrewd enough and cunning enough to identify the cause of all our problems. “A lot of managers can’t put their finger on what is wrong with their team. I can. I know exactly what is wrong and Tuesday just reaffirmed what I know" said Karl in his Thursday press conference. Unfortunately, he didn't say anything at all to suggest that he knows what to do about it, so I'm predicting another miserable debacle.
Charlton 0 - 2 Bury, attendance 13,500, actual attendance 9,200.
Nagging doubts are beginning to creep in with many of us about the prospect of a late season relegation scrap. I'm sure we'd all take consolidation right now. I really want Karl to succeed and applaud his passion and his sometimes happy go lucky demeanour. However, listening to his pre match press conference, I'm alarmed at the perceived undercurrents and fear for tomorrow's game. Surely, we've got enough to beat Bury but with new manager syndrome in Lee Clark and with it being us, it's a 1-2 defeat. Please may I be wrong.
Konsa right back? Byrne is more of a winger so could be a bit dangerous playing at the back. Who knows, need to move from 4231 please we are at home 442 go for it and score more than one goal please!!
Prediction: 2-1 Charlton, they score late but we hold on. Magdennis due a goal and Malvidi gets one too
Well as per your quote from the legend that is Roger Johnson "I didn't like it Tuesday so I won't be f.....g coming" looking forward to finishing the decorating in my dining room.
Are people serious about the possibility of us going down? I thought it was a joke. We're dire atm but there's no way we'll be relegated. You can get odds of 150/1 though if you really think it could happen.
I think we have just enough in points and wit to save our selves this year. However make no mistake, if things do not change in the summer expect a struggle next year

Brilliant - he deserves a promote for these. Worth the wait.
My slight critique is that we're not pessimists, we're consolidationists. That's the appropriate term moving forward for cafc under RD. Lower league consolidationists

Cheers for the compliment, and comments noted regarding consolidationists! Good word!
Appleton's team proved again on Tuesday that many teams play in the image of their manager. In Oxford's case workmanlike, dreary, committed, mediocre, dogged. Lee Clarke has transformed Bury's results, no mean feat considering how dreadful they had been. He is relentless, determined, capable, chippy and confrontational. If Bury show many of those characteristics they'll have plenty to overcome the fat scouse gobshite's incoherent, unconvincing, busy drivel. All due disrespect intended but after Tuesday night's calumny if KR puts out a side much like the suggested: Rudd|Byrne | Bauer | Teixeira | Page |Forster-Caskey | Crofts |Botaka | Holmes | Mavididi |Magennis he might just as well call us all C--T to our faces and sign his own P45. Two of that lineup shamed us, the shirt and themselves on Tuesday; two looked nowhere nearly good enough and at least one other was hopelessly at sea/out of position. Sans Solly there'll be even less leadership and grit than usual. I for one won't be sorry to see the back of the gurning, flabby chancer. His resources are thin indeed but he has to drop those that can't or won't deliver, and play a shape that suits who he has available. Obviously the president loves to repeat the idiocy of the past in the crazed belief that results may differ - looks like KR subscribes to a similar brand of insanity.

deserves more than a lol for 'gurning flabby chancer'
Pretty sure Congo Chris will start Aribo (and Konsa if he's fit). As for the attack, it's hard to know who to leave out: they're all in such spectacular form aren't they? I'm sure Midividi will start; aside from that we might as well stick a few cardboard cutouts of Hales and Mendoca in their six yard box and hope for a lucky rebound.
I'm confident, with tickets costing less than a packet of 20 Woodbines, and only the hardiest Mancunians braving the aftermath of Hurricane Doris to come down, that the home support in the East Stand will, for once, dwarf the travelling support in the Jimmy Seed. It'll warm Katrien's heart to look across from her coverted spot to see all those diehard fans that came along for experience.
A must win for Karl - after Tuesday (and most of what's gone before) this is a vote of confidence by the players in the manager. I reckon we'll spoil the consolidationists' dreams and win 2-0. Cue the dawning of a new era, a fight to the last for the play-offs, Millwall in the final, and Sue dreaming of scoffing prawn vol-au-vents in the director's box at Wembley.
Well as per your quote from the legend that is Roger Johnson "I didn't like it Tuesday so I won't be f.....g coming" looking forward to finishing the decorating in my dining room.
Way may win we may lose, could even be a draw.
See you at Northampton.
talking of Roger Johnson is he still with us? assume his contract is up at the end of the season and barring a bad run of injuries/suspensions we won't ever see him in a red shirt again?
Not sure why I am going to this - but I bought the tickets so bugger! The big game for me is my son's/the team I co-manage's cup semi final on Sunday morning!

me to and I'm taking my new neighbour, who's really looking forward to it.

I saw a photo recently, either on here or Facebook or Twitter, of him wandering around Bluewater on crutches.
In the normal world, I would assume that, as his contract is up at the end of the season, we won't ever see him in a red shirt again.
In the world of Charlton Athletic 2017, I expect him to be appointed team captain and Customer Relations Manager in time for the start of next season.
My weak link here is Crofts, even though this is only League 1 If Konsa was fit I'd play him instead of Crofts.
Rudd Jackson Novak Magennis Forster-Caskey Dasilva
I'm confident this team could lose 3-0
Weaker links than Croft are Botika and Watt. Homes plays better on the RHS in my opinion. If we were going to play 4 4 2 I would play Page at LB and Chicksen LW and Mag is far better than Watt even on an off day.
Never cared so little about a match. We are rubbish and little Bury will blast us with a 2-0 win. Worst season in my lifetime...sick of it, sick of our owners.
So much pessimism on here. In the imortal of Kevin Keegan 'I will love' it if we bounce back back tonorrow. 'Love it'. Then it will be case of 'shhh' to the pessimists.

Myself, I'd go two up front, Mavididi and Mag, as the 4-2-3-1 clearly isn't working. Midfield of Holmes, Crofts, Aribo, Botaka.
