To say that Jennings looked all over the place is an understatement. It was just a matter of time.

    12-1

    Jennings c Elgar b Philander 0

No surprise, I'd have dropped him.

Shame you're not playing instead of Elgar then!

He'll have been in the nets with Amir, Porter, and, erm, Matt Quinn. He'll be fine

Got to be dropped now - I was advocating leaving him out after the last Test & I've seen nothing in the 3 Tests (or the previous ones last year) that shows me he's going to score any runs - he's hardly got into double figures in this series.

I'm stranded in a soft play with reference only to cricinfo... Grateful for an opinion on how Westley looks. Im too big for this soft play, and it has nearly broken me

Got to get Stoneman in now. Needs to play some proper opposition before the ashes rather than just the Windies.

Soft play update - got stuck in a slide just like Augustus Gloop
  • From bbc text. Made me chuckle

Look closely. Wrapped in the silver foil are four cans of lager. Some resourceful chap tried to pass his beer off as an innocent sandwich. Denied and binned. At £5.20 a pint, you can't blame him for trying.

I make it 9 bowling options in this side. A far cry from when Trott was our 5th bowler. He would be 10th bowler in this side.

Broad Anderson TRJ Stokes and Ali as the main bowlers.

Malan and Westley are both fairly regular part time spinners in the county game.

Root has proven to have the golden arm at times for England.

Jennings bowls useful seamers. He's been used as 5th bowler at lot for Durham and has even played t20 as a bowler before.

Pitch has a tinge of green. It looks good. Like there will be a bit of a battle between bat and ball. This is how it should be.

Don't get how the groundsmans can produce pitches like this for the internationals but Surrey have had absolute shite pitches all year with nothing there for the bowlers.

I thought Westley looked comfortable, far more so than Jennings and Ballance have been.

(I now blame you, when he's out very quickly after lunch).

Just caught up. Jesus Christ jenning's dismissal is awful. Something you'd be disappointed to get out to in club cricket

    Christ our selectors are stubborn!

Jennings has repeatedly proved he's a dud at this level, so what do our selectors do, give him another go and once again he's proved himself totally inadequate.

No doubt he'll be in for the rest of the series and the West Indies too.

I find it very difficult to understand top order batsmen who can't get into double figures. I'm inclined to believe nought is a disgrace!

I do accept there are unplayable balls but has he got all of them?

    Oh come on, that's absurd

...but it was a very passive innings and he didn't look like he'd score many

Outside off stump, outside the corridor of uncertainty, played at it with a straight defensive shot and still edged it to the slips. Awful any way you look at it

Nah, it wasn't that wide. He could have left it but Philander was swinging them back as well. Wasn't a convincing shot but was good bowling
