Brilliant result. I was sat with the locals just behind Karl Robinson and his enthusiasm throughout the whole game was incredible although he did wind the locals up a bit! I thought that following the sending off Robinson got it tactically spot on and the players stood up to the challenge superbly with Watt never giving the Bolton defense a minutes peace.
I've said all along that the playoffs were a realistic target, and this result highlights it. Getting this sort of narrow win is what we've been bad at this season, with too many draws. A few more such victories and we'll be right up there
Bauer does seem to have a weakness in judging high punts up the pitch, against Millwall we also got caught out in a similar way. Something to practice on the training ground...
Time was, when a Charlton victory would leave me with a happy glow that would last all week. It would take me a good few days to get over a defeat. Jumping around wherever I am with the news of a goal.
I guess, It is a mixture of not attending regular games, and the constant turn over of players, the knowledge that any decent young players will be sold on, pretty quickly (don't get too attached) and knowing that Duchatelet's strategy & Meire's ineptness & the make do & mend approach to squad building, & lack of depth puts a huge drag on any momentum.
I am always happy with a Charlton victory, but these days, a defeat won't have much impact as it is not entirely unexpected & are a direct consequence of the way the club is inexpertly run. If I have seen a game, by the time I have reached home, & almost by the time I have reached the car or the train station, I have shrugged off & forgotten about the defeat.
Good for the missus as I am not such a grumpy sod when Charlton have lost. What kind of achievement is that of Duchatelet & Meire, when loyal, long standing supporters are led not to care too much anymore ? I understand what Huskaris is saying entirely about disconnection.
I appreciate your view etc..I won't allow them to do that to me. I thoroughly enjoyed the game today, and did not give those two a thought..
At the end of the day, you wouldn't be on a Charlton Athletic message board if you didn't have some feelings towards the club, even if they're not what they used to be
Bristol Rovers were around the top 6 first time we beat them I think?
Rovers were 8th before we beat them away & 10th before we beat them at home. We can't consider those victories were against a top team.
On the 12th November, the day we got stuffed at Swindon, Bristol Rovers were 5th, and Port Vale 6th.
A week later, the 19th November, we beat Port Vale 2-0, making them drop out of the top 6. Bristol Rovers could only draw that day, but got leapfrogged by Wimbledon winning - causing them to drop out of the top 6 only on Goal Difference at the time we first played them.

How about our FA Cup win against top of the League: Scunthorpe?
Neither side fielded a weakened side and we brushed them aside at the Valley...
best performance for a very long time .. at last, skill, bottle and luck combined in one outstanding all round performance ... the sending off was a 50/50 decision that went against us, could have been just a yellow on another day .. I really thought that all was lost after Page was off (he's had a tough intro to the club .. early injury on debut, even earlier dismissal on his return)
Their goal would have been scored against any keeper and even if we had had 11 on the pitch .. I do wonder if we would have won this with 11 ? .. the 'injustice' galvanised the team and us fans and perhaps lulled an out of form Trotters into a false sense of security ..
we equalised with a great Bauer header from a F-Caskey free kick and the winner was a classic breakaway of the sort that we have recently missed time after time, a terrific pacey attack right down the middle of the Trotters defence caught too far upfield in the search for a winner which never happened
fortunately for us Bolton were dire throughout .. sideways passing, no real pace, too much arguing and pouting, taking too much for granted
all our players were immense .. toss up for m o m between Rudd who was superb under the high ball and Bauer .. but that is picking the diamonds from the gold dust .. F-C and Aribo bettered a very experienced and supposedly very talented Bolton midfield, Chicksen, Konsa and Solly were super, Watt had a blinder until he tired, he really rattled the Bolton central defenders, little Byrne is a good signing, Crofts was a terrific organiser and was always available .. all in all it looks as though the players are doing it for Robinson and have found some pride and form .. LONG may it last ((:>)

You have indeed and I, for one, have been giving your posts the thumbs-up. Think you are spot on and today's result proves just that. Unbeaten in five now and would be in 9th and above the scum if we hadn't been cheated out of the win against them by the referee.
A few new faces in the team for me today and I thought Da Silva 32 was outstanding so much energy and pace over a short distance except I've subsequently learnt Aribo was wearing 32! On this showing he is some prospect. Page wasn't on long enough to assess, definitely a professional foul whether he was last man difficult to tell from behind the goal but their player was near the D and about to get a shot off. Byrne Impressed, went about his business with hard work / enthusiasm, good turn of pace and took his goal well.
As a result of Page's sending off after 10 mins we feared the worst especially as the resulting free kick bulged our net giving Rudd no chance, 0-1 and you're thinking this is going to be a long afternoon.
From a starting formation of 4-2-3-1 we reverted to 4-4-1 with the unpredictable TWW up top. Love him or loathe him defenders hate him running at them and there was always a chance he might get us back in the game. However it was a sublime free kick on 25 minutes from JFC after Watt had been fouled wide left which was met solidly by Bauer 1-1 to taunts from the visiting addicks of 'You're not singing any more' and 'Ten men, we've only got Ten men'. Then lo and behold we win the ball in midfield JFC advances at pace slips in Byrne who slots it past the keeper and 2-1 on the stroke of half time and the 'Ten men' song rings out once again.
Second half, the two banks of four worked their socks off as Bolton had, as you would expect with the extra man, plenty of possession but couldn't find a way through the red brick wall. When Rudd was called upon he was assured catching anything that came near him the box, he took his time with goal kicks which got up the home crowds nose the longer the game went on, good on him, excellent tactics to see the game out. Can't remember their keeper having much to do all game except pick the ball out of the net twice but hey that's football and we carried out the perfect smash and grab.
We came, we saw, we conquered against the odds and we need to build on this with a winning run at home because if we don't the faint hopes of the playoffs will be dashed.
Got back from the game at 18.00, but have been drinking pinot noir and reading the match thread before posting. What a result! Came away from the game really buzzing, that's why I had to get stuck into a bottle of wine to continue the euphoria. To the game, In the first 10 min Bolton started strongly, but after 7-8 minutes we were starting to get some control. Bauer was at fault for missing the challenge, then Page came in and wiped the forward out. Having said that I was not sure it was a red card. There were covering players around the fringes who could have put in a challenge. It depends what the referee writes in his report, was it serious foul play (3 game ban) or stopping a goal scoring opportunity (1 match) I went for a pee after the sending off and missed the Clough free kick. For the rest of the first half Bolton had more posession, but apart from the fierce shot that deflected off their own player, they didn't force Rudd into a save of any note. One tactic Bolton did (and other teams before them) was to put a big bugger against Solly and send every free kick in that direction. It worked, to be fair, and Solly was beaten in the air on most ocassions, something for the coaching squad to sort out. Back to our players, I thought the axis of Crofts, (who had an outstanding game), JFC and Byrne worked superbly. Crofts provided the anchor, played the ball around simply, worked tirelessly. JFC, Byrne and Aribo were providing the outlets, with pace, to try to relieve the pressure. Watt was also very good and looked a lot fitter than against Millwall. Held the ball up well and gave Wheater a torrid time when running at him. The defence, with Chicksen moving back into left back were immense for the rest of the game. With regards the goals, an accurate delivery from JFC for BFG's header, then Crofts breaking up an attack, releasing JFC to dribble two thirds of the pitch, weaving past Bolton attempts to foul him, laying off Byrne to blast it past Alnwick. Cue hysteria amongst the away fans, hugging and jumping as one, fantastic. Second half was tense, Rudd was superb in controlling his box with catches under pressure and punches from some corners. It was a bit like attack against defence, and the defence came out well on top. The whole team put themselves on the line, and Rudd didn't have to make a save of note. From about 60 minutes on, my mate Glen, next to me started counting down the clock, minute by minute. Others around caught on, 80, 81, 82 and so on. It added to the tensness! Players looked ecstatic at the end and Karl did a few fist pumps.
I just don't get the few posters on here who post after such a great result, that they feel nothing, that they are still disconnected from the club. I will be accused as being an appeaser, its happened before, but if you can't enjoy the moment like today, I'm not sure what you are doing supporting a football team.
Result that's lifted the fans and will give the players some belief. We've been pretty shitty at times this season and slowly, slowly Robinson looks to be turning it around. Let's get our best 11 fit and firing and see where it leads. I suspect we just have too much to do but you never can tell.
Been hearing some reports of OTT stewarding and a few people, thrown out
Yes four naughty (not so young, some of them) boys taken out after the free kick opener. Was shouting 'I wish that was us at that point. We got totally soaked walking to ground. Outplayed them for opening 10 then to see the silly sending off and goal, felt the gods were against us. Well after another 10 minutes dusting themselves down the Charlton MEN, came forward and should all be so proud of themselves. Not enjoyed a match or come away feeling so high since the Wednesday cup game. Whatever KR is doing keep it up. The urgency he showed to get them off at half-time to do the team talk was inspiring. Great day out up north. And a lovely heart warming cameo for JJ.
Wasn't at the game, but this win is for all the people that give Robinson abuse on here week in and week out. For what exactly? Just talking? Okay then, how about instead of giving the guy abuse. Support him and the side and see how it all ends up. At least he is enthusiastic and has a passion for football, hopefully he does well.

First time I have been stupid enough to bet on Charlton and see them win in months. Every win still means nothing to me.
No feeling when we win, no feeling when we lose.
Good luck in miserable land, I sincerely hope that you get out of it. I punched the air when the result came through. Well done Charlton....still love you(Charlton) and will do whatever I can to get the twats away. Twats they are, Charlton I am.

Great journey home for the 450 odd diehards, you deserve that.
