One sided local derbies

It seems that most of the famous derbies only have maybe a 10 or 11 game win difference at worst. Millwall have won 24 more games then us which is insane, and in the world of football must be some kind of anomaly. As far as I know even our derbies against the nigels and most other London teams of a similar size to us are far more even (maybe not Fulham).

  • Nigel at work reckons their record against millwall is not much better than ours, said it is just something about them......

I am getting pity from a Nigel, stop the world I want to get off
  • I think Chelsea always seem to come out on top against Spurs, or draw..
  • Our record against Palarse is also bloody terrible.

    Grrrr.

Christ, I think we've managed to win once at Highbury and once at the Cameldome since then too.

    Spursy :)

  • So have just gone through some of the obvious Derbies from the below link...

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_sports_rivalries_in_the_United_Kingdom#Central

Only one game is worse than ours which is pretty understanding between the gulf in money that Chelsea (they've won 41 times) have compared to Fulham (have only won on nine occasions)

You've then got the following games which have just one or two games in it...

    Brentford (21) v QPR (22)
    Peterborough (11) v Cambridge (10)
    Rochdale (15) v Bury (16)
    Blackburn Rovers (38) v Burnley (36)
    Bolton Wanderers (12) v Wigan Athletic (13)
    Chesterfield (25) v Mansfield (26)
    Stoke (16) v Port Vale (13)

And even the rest there isnt much between the sides:

    Everton (57) v Liverpool (75)
    Man City (44) v Man Utd (61)
    Arsenal (64) v Tottenham (50)
    Sunderland (47) v Newcastle (51)
    Watford (25) v Luton (32)
    West Ham (8) v Millwall (5)
    Crystal Palace (32) v Brighton (35)

    Birmingham (36) v Aston Villa (45)
    Coventry (23) v Leicester (36)

In the last 20 years we've played palace 14 times, in which they've only won twice. Prior to that they had a really good spell v us. Ten or so years they seemed to beat us every time we played, usually by some flukey goal when we had totally dominated. It was during this period I developed my ingrained hatred for all things stripey.
  • Anybody know the exact statistic for this fixture ?
  • Anybody know the exact statistic for this fixture ?

    3-1 to Millwank

    ; )
  • The last 4 seasons we've played Millwall we've had 1 defeat and 1 draw each time. So a draw in a few weeks time looks nailed on.
  • We both have eleven
    We both play on grass
    A match made in Heaven?
No. a pain in the arse!
  • Well at least we won't be the worst as i can't imagine Espanyol or Torino do too well v Barca and Juve.

However for sides on a relatively level playing field, it's simply bizarre how our record is so bad.

Aside from Kim grant in the snow and John Hendry at Upton park, i can't think of too many other victories i've seen v them.
