Yeah, but can he do it in a cold shitehole pub with a flickering light, toilet doorway in your eyeline, a caller with a nervous twitch, an chalker that needs a calculator and the landlords dog wandering across the oche?

Sounds like the Duke of Wellington near Petticoat Lane

First appearance at a players championship event and he wins it.
There's a lad on YouTube called the darts referee who streams live games and one of his pals his going for a tour card atm. He got beat 3-0 the other night by a 13yo who averaged 103!

That's ridiculous, who is the kid?
It's also part of the reason why i think all the talk about Littler dominating the sport, winning 10+ world titles etc is way over the top. Obviously he's going to be at the top for many years but as darts grows and becomes even more popular with more people playing the game, then by the law of averages there will be more and more wonderkids arriving on the scene to challenge him.
It's very far from when Phil Taylor had a much smaller top level field to compete with.

Mitchell Lawrie. Apparently he's quite well known on the county darts circuit.
Yeah completely agree with your post. Littler is an incredible talent but the general level of the wider field is far superior to Taylor's heyday.
The kid is special. If anyone thought the world championship was a one off, think again.
A special mention for Luke Humphries too. The guy is a really classy individual.
I'll hold my hands up and say i thought it might have been too soon for them to put Littler into the PL off the back of one tournament at 17 years of age but wow, the kid is unreal.
Agree on Humphries as well, i posted on the previous page how i didn't understand the hate he gets from some people.

I didn't realise he was - he certainly shouldn't be.
Brilliant darts player and sportsmanship that sets an example. Disappointed of course, but it really seemed that he was delighted for Littler, with no sour grapes whatsoever.

He actually said in a press conference a couple of weeks ago that they'd never hear any bad words about Littler from him and any attempt to try and manufacture some form of hated rivalry would be fruitless.

Humphries' reaction to the nine-darter shew that he's a good sportsman, he was almost willing that double 12 to go in.
Then, once the winning dart had gone in he was congratulating Littler, talking to him a lot and you could see him pointing down to the players' guest area effectively saying "go and enjoy this moment with your family".
Beer prices last night ranged from cheapest £8.95 a pint to £9.50. Bit of a rip off imo.
Word for how poor the service at the bar was. Took an absolute age to get served. They need to take a leaf out of the Ally Pally book where Darts are concerned. Only offer a couple of makes and rack 'em up early. It's the Darts. Nobody really gives a shit about what type of lager they are drinking as long as it's lager. Made for a slightly low par atmosphere imo
The worlds/Ally Pally is so well set up for beer. Huge long bar with tons of beer pre poured, pre-paid cards and plenty of staff. Have never waited more than a minute or two. O2 is never going to be as well set, as its a collection of small bars with no pre pouring and less efficient staff much like in a football ground.

The guy (Ryan Searle) he beat in the final averaged 111 and still lost!

To be there for Littlers first of god knows how many grand slam titles was a real moment

He's launched the sport into the stratosphere.
The master of ceremonies was saying last night that there was 40 million people watching last night from around the world

Jesus.
Yes the record is 4 (twice by MVG and once by Price) so Littler is on track to smash that.
MVG heads the 9-darter list with 27 in total.
Aspinal and Humphries are my favourites though
Bit of a rip off imo.
