I think too many people judge Watt on his goal scoring stats over the last few years, 13 in 83 isnt very good if he was an ajose type player who offers nothing else. TW offers something players like ajose can only hope to have - magic. Love him or hate him he is the most techincally gifted player we have had since Di Canio.
No that was Yann.
On TW I just think he's never going to do it, hope I'm wrong as on his day he can be superb but far too often we get a sulky Scot strolling around.
Under the right manager I suspect Watt would flourish, fair play to Karl Robinson for having a crack at it.
The issue is that no manager in the last three seasons has managed to get any consistency out of him. And that's a lot of Shit managers!
13 goals from his last 83 League games for a forward is a pretty poor return. Still if he is our replacement for Lookman it saves on the bills doesn't it.
Fixed that for you
Yep it's probably the fault of those 15 or so managers. It could never be his penchant for going so deep to get the ball that he ends up doing more damage in our half to us than to the opposition.
At least he got his wish of moving back home that made him so prolific that a recall to us became a "no brainer" - one goal and not a single other one created from 16 appearances this season.
There are countless articles about Watt from his Celtic days to date. They are all about his ability, how this is a new opportunity and how he aims to show that at his new Club. The opportunities to "walk the walk" will eventually run out. Sport at the highest level is as much to do with the brain and confidence in your own ability. And I'm really not sure Watt has that.
John Bostock's career springs to mind by comparison. Promised so much, Palace and Spurs went to war over him. Saw him totally outplay our youth team as a 16 year old scoring with both feet. And where is he now? Playing in the Belgium 2nd Division! Which is probably where Watt will end up.
I hope Watt comes back and proves me wrong because I will be only too happy to eat humble pie. But I wouldn't go preparing the recipe just yet.

"Magic" - he must have been performing the best of all disappearing acts in Scotland this season because I fail to see what "magic" there is in scoring one goal and not being involved in any other in almost 1,500 minutes of football.
On that basis Church must be a member of the Magic Circle having managed 6 in 13 last season at that level. And we all know how good he is!
You will remember @Addick Addict old school managers like Brian Clough, Jim Smith and more recently Redknap who had the ability to put their arm round a misfit player's shoulder and get the best out of them.
Maybe KR is that man but Watt has got to show willing as time is running out for him fast. One thing is for sure though when he first came and made an impression he had people on the edge of their seats and was worth the entrance fee alone. He's already on the payroll so can't see what is wrong in giving it one more roll of the dice. Nothing ventured nothing gained and that's probably how KR sees it with no doubt a prod from the Douchbag.
The one decent spell he had with us was under Luzon when he first arrived, no idea why it all went so wrong the next season, and we had the bizarre situation of sending him on loan to Cardiff, while we signed Vaz Te?
O Flower of Scotland, When will we see Your like again, That fought and died for, Your wee bit Hill and Glen, And stood against him, Proud Edward's Army, And sent him homeward, Tae think again.

Johann Berg Gudmunson. Alou Diarra. That's two from last season alone.
Watt is certainly gifted, but he seems to be getting better and better the further away from his four months of success he had with us.

Diarra? Very good at reading the game, big, strong and composed but a technical player? I think @Covered_End_Lad was talking in terms of touch, running with the ball, flair/tricks - creating something where other players couldn't. We've had good passers, set piece takers etc but not many that can beat several players with the ball seemingly glued to their feet.

So KR,s meeting with the President went well. So far we've got a kid on loan from Chelsea and Tony Watt back, welcome to Charlton Karl. Don't say you weren't warned.

What did you expect to happen at this stage bearing in mind the transfer window isn't even open yet?

Absolutely I'd have Watt back in the team. We're halfway up League One and just about in touch with the play offs and we're not going to go down either.
May as well roll the dice and take a gamble we've got nothing to lose and a play off place to grab if the gamble pays off. With his talent he should be far too good for this league.
If KR is behind this, I am starting to think he is my type of manager. I liked the way he kept putting strikers on against Southend when we were chasing the game - and anybody who said no has to take a look at their football knowledge and Slade like lack of balls. We are going nowhere in a weak division and have just lost a very talented player. The solution is to bring in a talented player. Now when Curbs took on DiCanio, he wasn't really a Curbs player in terms of his temperament, but the boss knew he would improve the team and brought him in. It was when he was at the top of his managerial game and he realised that it was his job to handle him - which he did.
Because the division is weak - the fact that honest hard working teams with little ability are at the top says it all for me - we can turn things round with the right players. KR needs to back himself and get the message home to any dissenters that if you are going to be an a hole it is forgivable if you are a great player. JJ has a role to play here, and it would be a good learning opportunity for his future managerial career.
I don't care what he did in Scotland - there are always lots of factors. I have seen what the lad can do and we don't have any other players that can do it. The league doesn't have any players close to Watt in ability. I love watching him play and if he was a perfect professional, we wouldn't have the opportunity of watching such a talent in League One FFS! I want to see some ballsy decisions and am starting to belive we have a manager willing to take them.
It is a crying shame for me, if this is true, that he has to do it with a hand tied behind his back with our idiot owner. Duchatelet, for once in your life, through luck rather than judgement, you may have picked the right horse. Let him run!
I can only go on the evidence I've seen which suggests that TWatt is:
A) a very talented player who, when on form and motivated, would get me to part with 20 quid and get my backside back down the valley,
a young man with issues that have recurred time and again to the point where if not in the last chance saloon, he's banging his way through the swivel doors muttering "geis a pint pal";
C) by any stretch of even the most basic of imaginations, and even when in complete head up own arse mode, an improvement on the utter waste of space that is Nicky Ajose.
His future career after the next six months is of no concern. Fact is, we have him contracted for the next six months and whatever happens next is as much up to him as anyone else. I suspect it's the footballing scrap heap. But for now we have absolutely nothing to lose in giving him a shot. It will be a soap opera one way or the other and may nudge us out of the utter turpitude that we currently have to watch (on the very rare occasions that I bother any more).
Lincsaddick said: my initial reaction is &**%^% him off the useless arrogant poseur .. on reflection though, he IS a talent and hopefully Robinson can get on his wavelength and get him playing .. t b h I thought that he'd never darken the Valley steps ever again .. if not glad to see him back, give the beggar one more chance (Prodigal Son & all that)
having typed this in a very optimistic mood after the windraw yesterday (getting carried away there for a min), I looked at Watt's recent record .. at Hearts, 16 games 1 goal .. Cardiff and Blackburn, 9 games and 1 goal for each .. If these figures were published about (e.g.) Ajose, there would be a demand for him to be dropped, sold and ridiculed. I am beginning to think that no manager is ever going to get Watt back in form and more importantly, get him interested. He's had a good couple of well paid years as a CAFC 'staff member', when does his contract expire ? Anyway if he is still on the payroll, it behoves our player management team to try once more to get him motivated and playing .. There IS a big talent in him, finding the key to unlock it is the issue
Welcome back Tony.......the balls in your court now to prove wrong the many Charlton fans who, sorry to say, think you were a bit of a tosser last time round. I say again.....prove us wrong!

Looking forward to having him back. Can't be much worse than watching Ajose every week.
When will we see
Your like again,

Let's sing this when he plays on Monday.

maybe his problem was with JBG who has since departed .
