  • Some wonderful & some truly brilliant songs, named on this thread. I'm amazed.
  • Macarena

But does anybody actually call this great? Popular, which it was at one time, is not the same as great.
Apparently some people think it's great, I hate it, read Wiki
  • Mull of Kintyre - shamelessly plagiarises the melody of a timeless classic.
  • Lady in Red by Chris de Burgh
  • Anything by Sir Paul McCartney...just awful.
  • I don't know of either of these count as great, but they're my two all-time hated songs, no question:

Crocodile Rock by Elton bloody John

You're So Vain by Carly Simon

  • I cannot stand Adele singing Skyfall, which seemed to be on the radio for about a decade.

Anything by The Boom Town Rats

Bob Geldoff done alright out of it though amassing a 150 million fortune out of it though

No, don't say that about the Rats, I really loved "She's so modern".

Mind you, it's not like people thought they were properly good.

I'm fairly certain that Gob Beldof's big money came from TV, I'm sure that I heard that his production company was behind the Big Breakfast.
  • Red Red Robin.

Ooooooonly kidding! I love bob bob bobbin'

Pretty much anything that comes out of X factor... perhaps not classed as great but they sell enough copies of them!
  • American Pie- Don McLean
    C'mon Eileen-Dexys Midnight Runners

The Fugees. Especially Killing me softly. Load of clap trap.
Amy Winehouse made my ears bleed.
Rod Stewart. Rubbish. Absolutely bloody awful in fact.

ALL Rod Stewart? OK, post 77 there was a lot of rubbish but the Faces and his early sole stuff is great.

Love Amy and Fugees are good too IMHO but Rod? Right up there with Van as best British male soul voice
Re Rod, I have to agree. An old raincoat... and Every picture... are two excellent albums. He had a great blues voice at the time.
True but people like cuddles don't know anything he did before "Do you think I'm sexy"

Excluding that classic with Michael Jackson of course.
  • Does anyone think the Macarena is a great song?

Never liked Stairway to Heavan myself.

    Even Rolf Harris's cover?
You mean there was an original version before Rolf?
  • Anything by Queen

    And Abba

    Anything by UB40.

    Whining, nasal, Brummie bollocks.

"There's a rat in mi kitchen, what am I gonna do?"

Run for the hills Ali, don't bloody sing about it.

I don't mind UB40 but I hate their version of 'Red red wine'.
