"All the things I’d heard about [before I came], haven’t been the case. I think if you asked them both they’d say maybe they underestimated how things worked in England and that’s where things fell down a little bit.”
Given that Karl hadn't actually taken charge of a match when he said this, he might be jumping the gun a bit.
What a worthless puff piece. Even the picture is wrong. The Guardian are so desperate for money, they will have jumped out of their skins for the Pitch PR shilling. Wankers.
".... things fell down a little bit..." Yes, such as the stadium now like a ghost town on match days, relegation and long standing supporters leaving in their droves. Stupid cow!!
TBF, if I had to make an uninformed wild guess it would be RD will have told KM to give him whatever and whoever he needs within reason to get Charlton promoted so she probably has been phenomenal so far in KRs view. RD has other business interests and he probably can't be seen to be failing at anything or kowtowing to a bunch of football fans, particularly if he had to on the face of it to at Standard Liege. Winning promotion would swing the balance back in his favour.
Well that's left me rather deflated. I was hoping to give him the benefit of the doubt. I was hoping he'd give the team and supporters a lift. I was hoping he'd be form a link between the fans and the team. But that one quote makes it clear. He's their stooge.
I actually don't share as much animosity towards Katrien as most on here. She is the mouthpiece for Roland and has to face the music when Roland makes ridiculous decisions and statements.
She wouldn't have said what she said on Talksport about Russel Slade if she knew he was in danger. She's said it and Roland has totally undermined her.

Why she doesn't just walk away confuses me.
A CEO post that she couldn't get elsewhere could be the answer.
Precisely. Promotion will of course be a "success". But when you consider it was an entirely avoidable relegation, they have alienated perhaps 70%+ of the fanbase, turned us into a basket case, have the richest owner in the league, have one of the top budgets in the division are on their 8th manager who is "definitely the right choice this time" and continue to spout other such rubbish it somewhat tarnishes the success.
The club was in a much healthier position football, spirit and soul wise when they took over even if the finances were shot. Any fool with a big bank account can buy a club and keep it ticking over on the balance sheet but it takes a special kind of band of merry muppets to mismanage their way to where we find ourselves in such a short space of time.
I hope we go up in next couple of years and it will be credit to whichever manager happens to strike lucky in this weird perverse experiment but does not mean they (the regime) will have achieved anything of real merit. And that is not written for the arrogant assumption that we have a divine right not to be in this league where we are. We dont of course but at the same time the position we are in on and off the pitch is largely due to the arrogance, stubbornness and complete incompetence of Murray, Meire, Duchatelet and anyone else that have been involved in the utter mismanagement of the club since they took over.
Like burning down your mates house then expecting praise for buying him some new curtains a week later.
The Robinson thing is a temporary PR blitz. What have the club said or done differently that indicates that Robinson's enthusiasm is not much but newly hired optimism let loose by the Charlton Pitch Agency temp head of communications ?
If nothing changes with Duchatelet, his stategy and sticking with the band of incompetents he hires, such as Meire (who have only kept their jobs if they have not criticised and accepted whatever rubbish Duchatelet has spouted), Robinson will only stay if he holds a similar non critical line to the inept sychophants employed. I can't see him being effusely enthusiastic as he currently is as and when things go completely pear shaped. An under resourced squad, a run of defeats will do for him as it has with all the rest of the managers. Someone has to take the fall and the blame and that won't be Duchatelet or Meire.
“I don’t know what length of contract I’ve signed,” the new Charlton manager says with a broad smile. “I don’t need to know that because I need to win games i'll be sacked by Easter.
It may be over-estimating him, but there is a possibility that KR has a cunning plan: to go along with the regime-speak until he gets himself firmly established and then really assert himself once they're dependent on him. I'm not going to hold my breath waiting for signs of a change, but we'll see.

... which then gives her a passport to membership of or invitations to prestigious committees, groups and conferences that her (lack of) ability would otherwise bar her from.
By any sane conditions Katrien aka Daisy aka NightMeire aka KM Wrong Un shouldn't be coming withing a country mile of these positions; it's only Roly the Benefactor keeping her in the CEO post and then she lets her physiology and "equality/inclusion" quotas do the rest.
And she likes the attention and status, hence her reluctance to bugger off (except on holiday during important times of the year).
Everyone wants to get on with their new boss, I understand that. Of course it's a good move to publicly say something nice about them to help cement a spirt of good will. I get that too. The trouble is that your employers are so hideously bad and your praise so gushing that it immediately calls into question your professional judgement. They haven't just made a few errors, they have presided over three years of absolute shitty-shit. Their errors are so consistent, and in some cases so huge, that it makes you wonder if they deliberately get things wrong just to enjoy the schadenfreude. I don't seriously believe that's that case, but it really does seem that they have developed some strange variation of the Midas Touch, lets call it the Merde Touch, because everything they get their hands on turns to crap.
I wish you every success in your new job, Karl. I hope that you can get Charlton promoted. But please, before making any more outrageous statements about the quality of our ownership, I seriously suggest that you acquaint yourself with some of the facts as to what has happened here:
By selling our best players
…that’s where things fell down a little bit!
By bringing in incompetent network replacements

This has to be a case of new girlfriend syndrome. Everything's fine for a few weeks then then when the "obvious" is a little less frequent, you have to talk to her. ...
You lot really need to get a grip seriously as your as bad as the regime. Just regurgitating the same old shit thread after thread Fact. Anyways im off to the game unlike some of you who haven't been for years adios.

After reading the caption under the picture and realising they got the wrong name. Did not bother to read it. Rubbish journalism.

We didn't get relegated through bad luck, their incompetence caused it.
If you lend someone your car and they drive it into a tree, you don't thank them for taking it to the garage to get fixed.
Yes under that definition, she is.
You could try Karel.
Poor sod.
