When you see the team play like it did today - Robbo has to take some credit. Although he was probably holding us back for the last month or so.

I'll credit him for getting in many of the players for very little outlay.
It's just a crying shame that he didn't know what to do with them.
  • Karl Robinson was always and has ever been at best a top-half L1 manager (promo and relegation aside) and for that he didn't disappoint. Clearly we need to someone to help us push on. Lee has had a great start but let's not get carried away. 3 points at both Northampton and Bristol Rovers and then I'll sit up and build my hopes. Have to admit though, it's great to have real Charlton in the dugout #cautiouslyoptimistic

KR was one of the most inept, clueless, self indulgent, idiots who had a total lack of class that I have witnessed manage this club and that includes some of the Belgian shite that we have also had to endure over the last few years,

He was a full on PR machine telling people what they wanted to hear with no substance, excuse after excuse to hide his inability to turn things around on the pitch once his one formation of 4-2-3-1 had been worked out by the whole league back in November. good riddance - he won't be missed!

Oh yes, and what happens the Saturday after he leaves? Two inexperienced coaches pick up the baton, have a look at the next opponents, pick the best system to deal with them, select a team accordingly, send the team out on the pitch with a plan and a purpose, and deliver a victory.

Football is a simple game, over-complicated by idiots.
Last sentence - nail on the head. I see it over here with the coverage of the MLS - random idiots blathering on & on about formations, tactics, specialist roles who quite clearly haven’t kicked a ball in anger in their life. Bowyer knows what it’s all about from playing 500+ games under several managers including Sir Bobby Robson.

I think everyone can accept the situation building up with the shit results and the imminent sale of the club meaning he was gonna be out of a job .
So for him to have been seeking employment elsewhere I have no problem with , his family are his priority.
There are ways and means of doing things , discretion would have to be a big part of it and it seems as much that this wasn’t just in the last week that the players would have heard about this with the leaking of him wanting out .
If he had kept a professional attitude and continuued steering the good ship Charlton through the rocky times, before his departure, it to me would all be a lot more acceptable .
The fact is the performances ,a lot earlier than the leaking appeared to me, took a bigger dip due to the unrest caused by Robinson therefore unsettling the clubhouse * and leading to a complete loss of focus and costing us vital points in the promotion race .
Robinson went about all this in the wrong manner and it may cost us but hopefully we can steer our more than capable squad back in to play off contention but if we don’t he will be culpable for our failure

A couple of the young players today - when asked about Robinson going said they were pleased as “he was a complete nutter”...

When you say young players, do you mean academy players and what sort of age ?
    The under five’s.

With their next two games against Portsmouth and Scunthorpe, we need them to have a new manager bounce...

Bowyer was pretty scathing of KR tactics. Basically said how can you only have one way to play.
He goes on from that about the diamond formation being worked on yesterday.
If KR had been a tad more flexible then who knows where we could have been in the league.
    Hey ho, new era en-route.
If they have any sense they’ll keep Bowyer and Jackson til the end of the season at least.

The thing is that Bowyer hasn't just come into the club since KR left, he was party to this as he was first team coach, speaks loudly of their relationship as manger & coach.

The thing that pleased me yesterday, was a willingness to push on and attack Plymouth. Usually we would pass sidewards and there would be no movement what so ever which would then lead to a long ball to Magennis and then lose possession. Happened all the time.

However yesterday was like watching a new team, Nice little one twos, the play leading up to our second goal was a joy to watch with ajose and zyro (I think) linking up well.

Don't want to get carried away however as long as the effort is there like it was yesterday I will have no complaints.

KR was and will always be a complete and utter tool. Some of the statements this season have been an embarrassment.

Yes we would try to get it wide which is fair enough but the key at this level is speed of thought and action. That was the main difference in the team I felt. Less probing waiting for something to open up and more going for it.

Lot of criticism of Karl but people are forgetting his passion and love of Charlton.

Yes. And we won yesterday because of his decision to leave.
    Great personal sacrifice.

    Thank you, Karl.

Idiots don't come any bigger than KR. The guy is a chancer - makes David Brent sound like Einstein.

Just watched his interview on sky prior to Oxford v Pompy.
He has the ability to say in 1000 words what can be said in 100.

Robinson on Sky. Robinson playing a diamond with 2 up front for Portsmouth vs Oxford.

Great idea. That might work eh ? Pity Robinson didn’t try that for more than 30 minutes over the last 18 months at Charlton.

I stuck the TV on mute when he started talking. If I hear his voice ever again, it will be too soon.

He could do us a favour though today and beat Pompey. He does owe us after all.

Robinson looking very cheerful before the game (almost as cheerful I am feeling about Charlton’s positive result & the fact that Robinson is no longer manager at Charlton). Let’s see how cheerful KR is looking by the end of the game.

5 mins Portsmouth 1-0. Easy goal from a poorly defended corner.

I thought it was telling that he said he hadn't had enough time with his players. Of course, he was covering himself.
Now Oxford 1-0 down. Reflects what a tool he is.

I meant to add he's had more time with his new squad than Bowyer has. He's also known for weeks that he was probably going there, so could have watched plenty of footage. I do feel a bit sorry for Oxford as they face this cock-up merchant.

To be fair Bowyer has been here for some time and knows the players. He's still a dick though.
