My next door neighbour's son who is my son best mate has just had to go through a 14 hour operation to remove a cancerous tumour from his jaw bone and will have to go through 6 weeks of radiotherapy.
anyway as he is an Arsenal fan I thought I would write to thm and explain what he's got to go through and ask if they could send signed photos of his favouite players - rosicky, fabregas and henry to give him something to like cheer him up.
Anyway they have written back and are going to do better than that and look to get him to the ground meet the players etc.
Well done to them I say and I am well pleasedas he's a lovely kid and this will give hime something to fight for.

Football has definetely changed for the worse over the last 10 years IMO but things like this renew my optimism and reason for spending half my life thinking about the game.
I'm sure that other clubs do the same, but good to hear that they're still prepared to give support to very worthwhile situations like this.
Hope the little fella has a great time and pulls through this testing time!
Although I despise most of the plastics that follow them, Arsenal as a club have a pretty good reputation for doing things in the community, or for taking the time out to meet sick kids. My ex was a children's nurse at GOS and she said that the Arsenal players were regularly in and out of there and often spent hours at a time visiting the kids. Henry, Wright, Adams and Dixon expecially - and this was spread over a number of years, so not just some attempt at ingratiating themselves for good press. Henry in particular, although he may come across as a sullen, lairy prick at times, was very friendly, and always had a chat with the nurses afterward - apparently he has a pretty good sense of humour as well.
Just goes to show that for every Joey Barton there's a silver lining.
Sadly none of the Charlton players i wrote to regarding our charity day sent a reply.
Seriously? Bunch of ****s.

Best of luck to your kid's mate Arf.
They have always been good like that, in the early 80's a young bloke died on our estate in Lee, he was a huge Gooner. My Dad phoned Arsenal and asked if they could send flowers to the funeral and could not believe it when Terry O'Neill, the then Arsenal manager, turned up at the funeral in Hither Green himself with the bouquet.
Well done to the Gooners though.
Well done the Arse
AFKA, I reckon Chris Powell would be up for attending.
I wrote to about six that i thought i had the most chance of getting a favourable response from. To be honest, i had no expectation of any attending, and didn't even offer that as a suggestion. Its their holiday period and i fully understand and respect that. I was simply after something signed by them, or unique that could be auctioned that's all, and it was more hope than expectation.
But if i'm honest, i had expected at least a polite rejection reply from at least one of them !
Anyway, not worth stewing about. Certain people at the club have been very good to us, and everyone on here has wholeheartedly embraced the event, and that's good enough for me.
You've been very good to everyone who will be playing, and i am sure it will be a great day.
Arsen Wenger and Arsenal was a real credit to football that day.
Arsenal contacted me last week and they are taking the lad in a couple of weeks to go and see the Arseanl 1st team squad train , have lunch with them - photos, and can take 1 item to be signed.
Never seen a kid perk up so much when he got the letter and be so thankful. He on the road to recovery now still not eating properly but had the radiotherapy and chemo and the docs happy with his recovery - and recovered enough to start senior school with my son as his minder.
Not in the same league at all, but a pal of mine's a lifelong Gooner and she recently left these shores, and her ST, to go to live with the love of her life in New Zealand. Her sister managed to get a framed letter from Arsene Wenger wishing her luck.
