Randolph wants to be number 1

Quoted as saying:

"I hope I have shown the manager what I can do and maybe he will show faith in me next year. The manager has not told me I will be first choice next season or anything - he just said come back fit for pre-season and then we will see what happens. I will not be living on the Liverpool game. It is over now and I have to look to the future, It will make me a better goalkeeper because I will learn from the experience. There were a few things that I could have done better which maybe some people did not notice - but the goalkeeping coach did so I will watch the game again and analyse my performance so that I can continue to improve.''

  • I'd be disappointed if he didn't to be honest.

For me the ideal would be to get Scotty Carson back. As that is unlikely to happen why not give Randolph an opportunity but get a reliable benchwarmer in like Royce or maybe that Walker from West Ham.
  • What has actually happened to Mhyre? Pards was saying all this stuff about picking between Randolph and Mhyre for the Pool game, yet he didnt even make the bench - and hasnt all season, and neither has he played in the Reserves I don't think...any news?
  • yes he's gone. Signed a pre contract in January to return home and reason why he wasn't played. Wanted to be released early but we refused in case we needed him.
  • So why did Pards even bang on about him possibly playing...? Weird. Quite liked him though, chatting away to himself all game!
  • because if we had needed a result at Liverpool he quite possibly would have played as his experience may have been vital.
  • Randoloph had a great game, but that's it- have to see what happens with signings- one thing is for sure, to get promoted we will need a good goalkeeper in great form to give confidence to a strng back 4- like Illic gave us 97/98.

Scotty would be fab- just can't see it happening unfortunately
  • I read in thr Mirror that Fulham could be in for Carson, another yr loan

    LoL

    Dyxlexia rules ko!
  • he's 20 yrs old he should be No 1 if he is good enough and please don't give me all this experience nonsense - how is he meant to get the experience if he doesn't play.

And loaning out is just not the answer he has been loaned out - if Pardew thinks he good enough put him in

  • Regardless of whether he is good enough or not, and his performance at Anfield was encouraging, Pardew will bring in at least one more experienced keeper anyway and it will be up to Randolph to prove he deserves the nod. If he performs like he did at Anfield in our pre-season games than it will be tough to leave him out.
  • He did put in a good performance against Liverpool and he's definitely one for the future but he is still very inexperienced. We need a very competent and dependable keeper for our assault on he Championship next season and playing him is going to be a big risk in my opinion. Against Liverpool, his shot stopping was excellent but he didn't command his area as well as he should and his handling could have been better.

If I was Pards, and we can't get Carson, I would be looking at signing an experienced keeper. If West Brom don't win the play off's, I'd go for Deano.

Totally agree. If he's good enough, he's old enough.
