Fans staying away

Fans may be deserting the Barclays Premiership, according to a survey. The Virgin Money poll, based on responses from about 2,000 supporters, indicated that one in eight season ticket-holders would not be renewing this summer. Manchester United’s decision to put up prices could lead to fans staying away. According to the survey, 24 per cent of Old Trafford season ticket-holders will not renew because of cost.

  • 2000 supporters polled out of the hundreds of thousands that go!
  • that is statistically more than you need to poll - whether you test a drop of bathwater or bucketful of the stuff you should get more or less the same results
  • according to the metro this morning, the same poll shows 28% of west ham fans wont be renewing their season tickets either on account of the cost...though, when i thought about it, not one of the west ham fans i know has a season ticket these days anyway and just go to selected matches, home and away...
  • that poll was done in April on a very small sample. I wouldn't read anything into it.

Wait till Wham sign Parker and others and then the Hamsters will be flooding back.

and who is going to pay for parker and the others ?...if 28% think season ticket prices are too high now, wait until the bill comes in for the increase in spending...
