  • Interesting to note half the Jimmy Seed stand had Charlton fans in it - I had forgotten that

Greg Shields was a tidy player - surprised he didn't have a better career

Good player Andy Hunt - a shame his career was cut short

    Rufus handball was outrageous !!
  • A CL regular was mascot for that Coventry game.
    It wasn't me mind!

Am surprised, I always thought that was the sole goal in that game
    JJ’s overhead kick was sensational
Low down version of Rooney's goal against Man City almost
He was really good for about 6 months that season- never quite the same after that

Yeah, I rated Shields as well. Reminded me of Mark Reid.

Horror show away at Ipswich did for him.  He was a nice player though - good going forward.
  • Didn't Shields fall out with Curbs?
  • That Cov away match is always remembered by me for two reasons.

The pub we went into which was near the ground. The woman serving looked like Giant Haystacks and when I asked for a "scotch and coke" she had no idea what that was and they'd also run out of vodka!

At the match I was having some back and forth with a lad in their end, went on for some time then I noticed two stewards approaching him so I just stopped and stood with a grin on my face while he carried on giving me wanker signs and was promptly ejected.

Shame we don't have the studio set up as would have been good to have Andy's pre and post match analysis...

When you talk about Charlton players, Andy Hunt was about as good as you could get. He'd be a main man in any era because he had a top-notch, all-round game, matched with a wonderful temperament.

I was talking to a WBA fan the other day who was trying to convince me that Bob Taylor was a better player. I told him that was bollocks. Taylor was good but Hunt was in a different league because of his touch (evident in those clips).
