Who I think should/will go and who I think will/should stay

edited May 2007 in General Charlton
Young: - Would do well in the Championship but he will want top-flight football. Go.

Hreidarsson: - By the sounds of it he has gone and maybe it is time to call it quits and get some young blood in. Go.

Faye: - My do a job in the CCC but hasn't convinced me enough, get some money back. Go.

Reid: - Will be very good in the CCC as long as he is fit. Keep.

Kishishev: - As with Herman would probably do a job in the CCC but we need young blood. Go.

Bent M: - I did think he would maybe be an asset in the CCC but his recent attitude has stunk. Go.

Holland: - His performances since the New Year have won me over and we need people like him in the CCC. Keep.

Zheng: - Not a bad player but not totally convinced and I don't think playing in the CCC is for him. Go.

Bent D: - Would love to keep him and he would rip the championship apart but its not going to happen. Go.

Ambrose: - Worried a bit light weight for the CCC but should do a job. Keep.

Lisbie: - Dead man walking. GO.

Thomas: - Overall his attitude this season has stunk, get what we can for him. Go.

El Karkouri: - He's never filled me with 100% confidence and he's not the rock at the back that we will need. Go.

Song: - Maybe worth another loan spell in the CCC but still has a fair bit to learn. Loan Maybe.

Gibbs: - Is worth a punt in the CCC should do well. Keep.

Rommedahl: - Just go and hang you head in shame. Go.

Hughes: - Should be a good asset in the CCC. Keep.

Walton: - I think he will come in to his own if given a chance in the CCC and prove he's just what we need in the CCC. Keep.

Bougherra: - Again will prove his worth next season in the CCC after injury has plagued him this year. Keep.

Diawara: - He wasn't worth the money we paid but if he can sort out his heading and wants to stay he'll be an asset. Keep.

Fortune: - Not good enough for the top flight may do a job in the CCC but I think a change would be good for him. Go.

Youga: - Make or break he hasn't set the world alight yet and needs to take advantage of us being in a lower league. Keep.

Elliot: - Has done well out on loan and should be a good back up. Keep.

Sankofa: - His big chance with Luke probably going and he deserves a go. Keep.

Sam: - Same as Sankofa next season he should be given a real shot. Keep.

Ashton: - From what I saw pre season to light weight for the CCC. Go.

Thatcher: - Should do a great job in the CCC. Keep.

Randolph: - If he has a good pre season he should be worth his chance. Keep.

Myhre: - I think he may have already gone. Go.

Walker: - From what I saw last pre season he deserves a chance. Keep.

Carson: - He could be at CAFC next season and would be a great buy if we can get him. Keep.

Gislason: - Same as Yougo if he is going to do it he has to break through next season. Keep.

All of the below I haven't seen enough of but you hope they are all young players that are up for the fight that is Life in the CCC.

Christensen
Dickson
Carvill
Staunton
Tanska
Weston
John

I don't think that's far off most fans idea of who should stay and who should go what do you lot think?

Comments

  • Agree with all of that.

    Except Hughes!
  • i understand and agree with a lot of your comments but cant see that many players leaving and if they do pards will have to work real magic in the transfer market. i think loan deals will be massively important next year.
  • I do think we need to do a almost Spurs like clear out though they only have 3 players left from the Santini days.
  • I think Arter and Wright are closer to the first team than the other youngsters. Both travelled with the squad to B'burn.

I'd keep Kish as his displays for Leeds show he is good enough at this level but the wage bill has to be cut.
  • i think we should keep kish, and one of LK and Fortune. We cant lynch the whole squad!
  • i would keep kish but him and pards aint exactly best mates and so it may be difficult. he had right hump at way he was treated by pards and think he'll move on!
  • - Realistic Keeps:

    Randolph
    Thatcher, Bougherra, Diawara, Sankofa, Gibbs
Ambrose, Holland, Hughes, Walton, Reid, Kishishev, Sam
    Walker

    - Untried youth (Arter, Wright, Christiansen, Dickson, Basey, Youga, Elliot) will feature

    - Other than that, all others should/will leave (M Bent, D Bent, HH, Young, El Karkouri, Thomas, Faye, Lisbie, Fortune, Gislason) which will leave i'd say 6 or 7+ places to fill in the squad from loans and new signings with room in all areas...

Whilst I am not criticising or disagreeing, on what, exactly, are you basing the contention that he should do well?

Based on what I've seen, I fear that his CAFC playing career may be shorter than Gary Rowett.
  • Not sure Youga is up to Championship level.

My views on Gibbs are purely based on the fact that I heard he was a good player in the Dutch league, which I know is hardly great, but he shouldn't be awful.

That’s why I put him as "wroth a punt" he would be a slight gamble.

Also I hardly think I'm lynching the squad why should we keep all of a squad that if we do go up in the following season wouldn't keep us up, because they certainly couldn't do it this season.

However you look at it and as Deano said in that BBC article in the last 2 or 3 years of Curbishley reign the squad became stagnant and he was just going through the motions.

Add to that Dowie and his awful buys and what you have is a squad that needs about 7 new players that are up for a fight and 4 or 5 loans.

Why keep players that hopefully in two years time won't be young enough or good enough to keep us up.

If he is even 50% of what Parker was then we are right back in business.

Sorry, I have no idea about that.
  • The only comment we have had from Pardew is that he hopes to keep 90% of the squad together, but on here all we hear about is lists of massive clearouts.

I wonder which way it will end up?
