The Athletic saying Glasner isn’t under consideration but Liam Rosenior (who manages sister club Strasbourg) is in the frame
Well that would be a strange move, no discredit to Rosenior

Thought Maresca was doing an alright job really.

Makes sense to me. Maresca is going because he fell out with the management, the same management who Rosenior is delivering results for. Plus he's good at coaching young players and would be cheap. They'd then probably hire someone proper in the summer

Yeah I get the whole, keeping it in house, just doesn't sound very... "ambitious"

Let's hope that whoever takes over wears the 'club tracksuits' eh?

So Chelsea who have spent about a billion pounds on players want to hire a manager on the cheap.

    Doesn't make sense.

They’ve also been very close to spending limits and don’t have loopholes to exploit

Could see them going for Iraola. Would think he’s eyeing up the City job long-term though.

Amazing to think that the U21 Chelsea manager Calum McFarlane will be caretaker Chelsea boss on Sunday 4th against Man city considering when I first saw him 10 years ago he was the Assistant manager at Whyteleafe in the Isthmian league South East division ! The manager at Whyteleafe was Harry Hudson who is also at Chelsea now as the U16 boss.

It's important to have contacts in the world of coaching and McFarlane has followed Joe Shields, the director of football at Chelsea from Man city to Southampton and then to the odious Chelsea FC in the last 5 seasons.

Chelsea don't want a manager, they want a head coach who toes the line and wins football matches and I could definitely see Rosenior be given a go at least to the end of the season as he's at Blueco club Strasbourg.

If Liam Rosenior gets the gig, I hope he lasts longer than his Dad who was Torquay's manager for 10 minutes as they were taken over after he had his first press conference back in the day !

Imagine comes in on the 9th, takes the team for Charlton, then leaves.
Doubt that would happen but would be crazier than his dad's Torquay stint.

Nice of Chelsea to employ their Under 21s manager for the cup match (for what is essentially a under 21 match for them)

The media team will have to change the advert now just in case any tourists think they are coming for Maresca and Palmer, end up with Calum McFarlane and (Sam) Rak Sakyi.

Aberdeen have parted with Scottish Cup winning manager Jimmy Thelin with the side eighth in the Scottish Premiership and on a five-match losing run.

Hilarious, wrong manager at the wrong time, he tried to shoehorn them into a 352 and then didn't fully back him in the summer to turn them into a 352 squad.

    Long may their demise continue

Not surprised with Amorim in fairness.  He went against the board, as Maresca did at Chelsea, and agitated to get the sack

Sounds like it's Darren Fletcher until the summer. Assume they think they have a shot at Glasner?

Remember they sacked Dan Ashworth as sporting director after just 5 months because he argued with the board that Amorim was the wrong manager because of the formation he played.

    Utter shambles of a club.

Basically confirms it was his comments that did it for him. An interim appointment now makes no sense as they won't do any better than Amorim, he talked himself out of a job for the next 4 months

I'm sure he'll being crying all the way to the bank.

His reputation will only be slightly tarnished as most will see the mess that United are.

They need to turn to one of their own. A local lad and former academy graduate, with lots of managerial experience...

Yes and no. Criticising the board doesn't tend to go down too well with prospective employers. Some won't care and will hire him anyway but they tend to be the bad owners themselves

True about the 3-5-2 but it was ironic in the win against Newcastle on boxing day Amorim played a back 4 before reverting to 3-5-2 in the home draw with Wolves on 30th December.
Amorim despite the mega bucks he has already earnt and the pay off he will get has always come across as unhappy in his work because right from the beginning he wanted to stay at Sporting CP until the end of the 24/25 Season but United insisted if you want the job come now so he did 14 months ago.
