Felt like Schumacher was a harsh sacking and to go and get a relative Rookie as a replacement was always going to be a gamble, this has again backfired. Do wonder what direction they'll go for as they've tried everything in recent years.
Complete mid-table mediocrity with a steady decline recently. I think they'll only keep doing it for so long, especially with how often they chop and change.

If they had gone down last season, I wonder if they would have done a Birmingham and splashed the cash in L1? They could have spent a lot more in L1 this season than the Championship.

Mid table is generous, that’s lower mid table! Agreed, league 1 isn’t far away
Never understand why managers get sacked after games they shouldn’t win. I don’t get why sack their manager after losing to Leeds but not after drawing at home to Cardiff and then losing to 10 men.
Their issue is that John Walters came in as a football director, sacked a manager who was doing okay in a short time and then changed it up as he thought an inexperienced manager was a good idea. I’m surprised he’s not been sacked but he is a legend in that part of the world.
Also Holden was on their local radio saying he’d manage them for free to keep them up hahah big pay off from Saudi for being a poor assistant manager. Seen both Appleton and Jones at 16/1. Would be hilarious if Appleton got the job but I think they’ll get robins.

Usually i feel like it's because they don't want the new manager to come in and then face a really tough opponent in his first game and get off to a losing start. But in Stoke's case their next 2 games are Sunderland and Burnley which are also tough so it wouldn't surprise me if they go with a caretaker for those games and the new manager is in charge for the game after that (Plymouth at home).

Seen a lot of Stoke fans online lay the blame firmly at Walters door despite being a club legend it sounds like he's made a lot of mistakes as Sporting Director including the Pelach appointment.

Thought Robins said he doesn't want another job till at least the end of the season.

I found this interesting to read and even with the amazing Midas touch of the Coates family, Stoke have been on the slide.

"It's bet365 effectively acting like the bank of mum and dad and acknowledging that the money that was owed by the football club, which at one stage was over a quarter of a billion pounds, is never going to be repaid and they are just doing some tidying up," football finance expert Kieran Maguire told BBC Radio Stoke.
"Stoke tended to break even when they were in the Premier League but in the last few years, they've been losing £500,000, £600,000 a week and those costs have effectively been absorbed by the Coates family."
Football really isn't an exact science as demonstrated by Stoke City with good owners like the Coates and the not so merry go-round at CAFC.
Will any team risk going for Russell Martin? His one style football would be an incredible risk mid season, but you can see a misguided owner somewhere going for him.
Lydd just sacked Nicky Southall after a whole 4 games in charge and 39 days. 4 defeats out of 4 was enough to convince them he wasn’t the right man 😄😄😄

Strikes me as a very Norwich appointment. No idea if their current manager has his job at risk.

I think their points weren't far off mid-table on the earlier finishes, either way, a club on a downwards trajectory.

That, is an absolutely hideous amount of money to be losing each week.
If they get relegated they could be in some serious trouble.

After seeing your stats on this being Stoke's 7th season in the Championship after being relegated and off of 10 straight years in the Premier I'm shocked to see how much they are allegedly losing as I thought the big earners are normally moved on when dropping out of the elite Premier, especially if you don't get back in one season. Paying off Lambert, Rowett, Jones, O'Neill, Neil, Schumacher and Pelach are all out goings.

They're absolutely fine, they're debt free and own their stadium and training ground. The only way they'd be in trouble is if the Coates family decide they've had enough, but given they're lifelong Stoke fans as well as a huge employer in the Stoke area i don't see them walking away anytime soon.
I don't think they will go down but relegation might even be a good thing for them, as they could exploit the stupid EFL loophole and throw money at transfers like Birmingham have done and come back up with a stronger team.
