  • Would not be too disappointed if Tex goes. I know he is top class and probably one of the best centre backs in the league. However it is one of the positions where we have a surplus of options.

I think Pearce and Bauer as first choice with Lennon as first reserve (his performances for the gills last year proved he is good enough) and Konsa/Johnson being fourth choice between them will be enough for the season.

If Tex has to go and that allows us to get 2 centre mids in then I wouldn't complain in the slightest.

There is just one flaw in the players you've mentioned... Only Pearce can be relied upon as a Defender at the moment as the other three are all injured
  • That's it, I'm off to the bookies 50 quid we win league

    Only joking

I think bookies have a legal responsibility to protect those making ridiculous bets, so doubt they would take any cash on Charlton going up
  • Russell you would be the last one to know.
  • Happy to take this statement at face value from Slade. Personally don't think there has been any evidence that he has been dishonest with fans to this stage. As always though, whether the the club is intent of selling or not, they have no real control over other teams placing bids for our players or if said player decides they want to pursue their career away from Charlton.
  • Well, I'm not overly convinced, should have added until hell freezes over, then I'd believe.

Most other League One owners then I agree with you. Ours is a billionnaire who's mouth piece says we have Premier League aspirations. Well we know Tex is good enough for the Championship so unless those aspirations are a load of bollox then we should be keeping these sorts of players like Southampton did when they see in League One AND we should be adding quality midfielders to the squad too.

I believe he's about half a billion short of being a billionaire, in sterling at least.

It was reported he is worth nearer 750k now. The value of his electronics company has risen dramatically in recent months.

So only 250k short of being a millionaire then.

Perhaps he should sell then, the coffers are low.

Why are you all so bloody negative.

After two and a half years of this regime, the overriding policy is clearly that cheap is best. Some of the new signings 'may' work out fine, but after a needless yet deserved relegation, don't ask me to turn cartwheels with every new signing. We've signed too much dross to expect me to see every new face as a new Clive Mendonca. Polish Pete still haunts the Valley.

I cannot, for the life of me, think why.
