Very enjoyable game. Kennedy is certainly not a target man, but he got a lovely half-hour hat trick, but it has to be said the whole team contributed. His first was a lovely swivel and first time hard shot after 48 mins, there was good work by Fairchild in the build up. Then we nearly scored an own goal from a fine close range diving header back from Lapslie which Mitov saved well! A minute later after fine build up play down the left, a low firm cross from Umerah was slammed into the roof of the net by Kennedy. He then scored a screaming low shot following a touch from a free kick through a crowded area. Jason Euell deserves a mention, he has to deal with inevitable changes in players, like no Hanlan, and KAG suspended after last week's headbutt at Bristol City, and no Archie Edwards today. We had Djiksteel in midfield, Barnes as left back, Lapslie as right back, Yao in the middle of defence, yet the players are almost telepathic at times. Ipswich were not awful, indeed Mitov did well in the first half, but the win was very comprehensive indeed, one of the best I've seen this season.
Kennedy played up top today and did himself no harm at all, combining the usual energy with some fine finishing. Still not sure about the first team but it'd be interesting to see how he gets on against more senior opposition.
As always the lads worked themselves into the ground with Djiksteel and Carter running the midfield, and Barnes and Lapslie always ready and willing to overlap from full back. As Seth mentioned, Mitov made a couple of fine one on one saves at 0-0 and 1-0 but our tenacity, skill, and ability to keep possession at high tempo once again proved too much to cope with. All this with KAG and Edwards out, plus Konsa & Aribo now settling in the first team. Very impressive.
I think it was because of the absence of Archie Edwards, so barnes went to left back for him, and Lapslie dropped to right back. I like Lapslie in midfield, but he is a versatile and very wholehearted player with no little ability, and good decision making, he is also the kind of player other players love to have in their team.
I wonder why Dasilva doesn't get a run out in this game.
Good point, Henry.
Okay, it's an U23 development team fixture, but I'm surprised that generally they don't get better used to help keep a non-playing 1st team squad player match fit. As you say, ideal for Da Silva (or the the new Arsenal lad) to put them through their paces or a player returning from injury.

JFC played a game for the U23s to get some fitness.
Maybe it is part of the loan deal that they don't play other than for the first XI but some of our non-playing over 23s might need a run out.
2-2 Kennedy. Low in swinging free kick and Kennedy gets on the end of it. He's played well. Trialist is Nathan fox if not already mentioned. They've got Ravel Morrison playing for them.

Half time 2-2. We've seen a fair amount of possession but our decision making in the final third hasn't been great. It's two easy for their attackers to get in behind too.
Impressed with Chris Millar and Kennedy just keeps scoring.

To all those sending in reports and observations from today's game - thank you.
We've got a great bunch of youngsters and it really helps with keeping up to date on their progress.

Oh, it's a trialist. From the way the names are listed a full back maybe. Let the speculation begin.
KAG still suspended I guess, Hanlan and Umerah out on loan but gives a chance for Hackett-Fairchild to shine
#QPRU23 Subs v @CAFCofficial: Herdman, Springer-Downes, Rowe, Clarke.
That is Revel Morrison lining up for them.
