French almost scores an own goal after a very Deji bad header back to Kone, nowhere near enough pace on.
French gets inbetween the advancing forward and Kone and tries to nod it past Kone to run onto but Kone instinctively blocks and it deflects off French and onto the post - French then clears it and wins a foul.
Disappointing end (very Charlton) but entertaining £4 worth. Hard to pick a MOM as very good team performance but if pushed I'd give it to Chin or Mitchell. Some very promising youngsters.
A decent game, probably a fair result. Some nieve play in last 5 mins, giving possession back to Millwall. Standout players for us, Adugan, Mitchell and Kanu .
Daniel Kanu scoring a brace and a Dartford boy too. Time for him to be involved in the 18 match day squad now we are mid table and looking sideways. (Not up or down)
How is Deji playing at the moment ? At 19 he can still 'make it' but because Ness has got ahead of him it would be better that Deji has half a season at a National League club. We recalled him from Wealdstone as O'Connell was injured and Inniss was past his Quota of games for the season !
Did Ness impress when playing in the U21's?
I know results aren't everything but Millwall getting a Desmond +1 is typical.
Playing out from the back cost Charlton the win. Why on earth didn't somebody change the tactic when it was obviously not working.
Kone's kicking was terrible today.
Call me old school but when I watch a keeper I care more about his hands. I still believe Nick Pope is the best keeper in the Premier despite being average with his feet.

He didn't get his hands anywhere near the 3 Millwall goals. Kone was well below average today.

DK played far better today than in recent times.
Deji was playing today and did well apart from a weak back header.
Ness did impress in the under 21s and deserves his place in the first team squad.
Zach Mitchell captained the team today and played in midfield. An excellent performance.

Very solid, rarely made mistakes. Based on watching on Charlton TV though.
Mitchell I really like the look of. Would be great to see him and Ness forming a partnership in a year or two, although I suspect one will have moved on by then, sadly. Or lost form.
[Ah just saw Michell played in midfield. Interesting…]
Went to watch El Kentico / The A2 Derby yesterday (AKA Welling v Dartford).
Our loanee Dylan Gavin came off the bench for Welling for the last 15 mins. I'm not sure why he didn't start the game in front of the extremely lightweight number 11, who I believe is Gary Alexander's son.
But Dylan did well when he came on. Carries himself with great confidence, is a very physical player and was winning headers, playing intelligent through balls, etc and created a great opportunity. Certainly looked above that level.

Slightly concerning that it's his 3rd NLS loan move. The lack of upward progressions suggests he's a long way from making it with us

I think that's a bit harsh. He's only had one more non-league loan than Lucas Ness.

I guess Leaburn will likely go in the summer but with Kanu, Casey (assuming he signs), Reilly, Ladapo and Gavin we have a lot of young forwards on the books. I imagine Gavin's contract expires this summer and wonder if he will renew. Would like to see him have another year or two and hopefully a L2 loan.

Ness's second loan was in the NL, so stepping up a level. Gavin has had 3 loans all in the same division, and with all due respect to Welling, they're not one of the bigger NLS sides either.

I might be wrong but I think we loan certain players to Welling so they can continue training with us, rather than just sending them to the best team that will take them. Maybe there are certain situations where we think that's preferable.
He's still got time to make the step up and all players progress differently. He looked a level above anything the Wings had on Saturday. At the very least he looks like he'll have a decent career in football.

shame.
he also looks like he ate the Jeremy Santos of last season. Looked to be carrying a bit of timber
Another battling performance from the Young Guns & unlucky not to get all 3 points.

Don't think any of them are - Santos was at Tonbridge Angels earlier in the season and got injured , Bakrin had a spell at Cray Wanderers last season.
