i see the official reasoning behind only offering u11's the free s/ticket deal from yesterday is that the club wanted to reward the loyalty of those fans that renewed by 30th april...that sentiment i can understand but i think there's a bigger issue here in that we really do need the valley to sell out for matches next season to get ourselves the best chance of bouncing back at the first attempt...the psychological boost for players and fans alike to see 'business as usual' will be crucial in those times when we will all need to dig deep...why not offer the free season ticket deal again to purchasers of tickets up to the end of this month and reward those fans that renewed/bought before 30 april in some other way...a red charlton shirt with something suitable added to distinguish it might be an idea...there's probably a lot of fans in that 17k that dont buy a football shirt so the club will be adding a bit more red to the stands if they went down this route instead...fill the ground for next season, empty seats will create doubts...

And the very competative prices and freebie for the kids gives the club a simple message to sell to promote over the summer. Not a complicated multi-layer offer with a freebie here, a shirt there but only if this, that, then, when offer that will not have a strong impact or to use marketing jargon AIDA Attention, Interest, Desire, Action.
It is still an attractive offer price wise especially with 23 home games and the Pardew feel-good factor.
As I said before once you have a deadline you have to, IMHO, keep to it because otherwise next year or the year after when you ask the fans to renew by a certain date they will say, "why bother, they will just extend it like last time". Remember the story of the boy who cried wolf.
And Please - will you stop putting O! Henry at the front of your posts.
I think the marketing of next year's season tickets has been an absolute master stroke and fully expect it to be copied over the coming years many times over by other less innovative clubs. (Only for those fans of the clubs that copy it to come on here when we do it again and tell us how small time and rubbish that makes us).
Got to actually reward the deadline or people don't believe your message next time and have to keep it simple so that it's more impactful and isn't diluted by caveats and clauses.
Well done everyone involved I say - and the results speak for themselves.
No wonder CAFC turned me down for a job in Marketing when i left uni. They did however write a very nice letter back telling me that they will keep me in mind. Might try another push on them!
