Last few seasons have been awful, but hopefully we've hit that bottom and we are about to start a way back up to where we belong.I.'ll be supporting russell slashes red and white army starting at welling next week COYR..
We are where we belong. We've got a deluded owner, an incompetent CEO and huge gaps in the the coaching set-up. The most we can hope for under this lot is a temporary blip before more heartbreak. Let's focus on getting the set-up at the club right rather than living on pipe-dreams. They have to go.
The players leaving will be more telling than the appointments.
Funny how people suffer from memory loss after we make signings we should have done 30 months ago.
I imagine there are already suitors for the likes of Cousins and JBG already making overtures but KM & Co. are holding off actually selling them until they get a certain level of season ticket sales (prompted by the signings) or the money is needed more than the PR.
Players leaving will as likely reflect the attitude / aspiration of the individual and not whether we sell a specific number of season tickets. RD will be losing money this year regardless and Slade will have a budget to manage within. This will surely have been established already.
As with many players in the past under various owners and managers who chose to leave it also reflects their personal situation. A number will consider themselves better than League 1 (despite their inability to avoid relegation) and with their agents etc. will get a move they feel works for them. It doesn't always reflect the club seeking to sell.
We can only judge this on the final shape / size of the squad once the transfer window is closed. Individual moves especially when fees are undisclosed don't tell the whole story.
On this basis I'm not inclined to buy a season ticket yet as I can't yet fully trust them - but do want to. As the financial benefit of season ticket is marginal especially if like me you inevitably miss a few games through summer holidays / other ad hoc commitments I'll take my chances (with a high degree of confidence) that I can easily buy from match to match and sit where I want to.
