Decent manager at this level, became our manager at the worst possible time, having to pick us up post Pardew was always going to be difficult, and being his assistant meant he was a part of the personell that led us to the third division the first time around.
Not sure what the budget will be for either team, but Bradford's may be higher plus they will have bigger gates. Suspect there will interesting times ahead at Bolton.

Yes, it seems a bit of a sideways move at best. He hasn't joined a team with plenty of money to spend
Good job for Parky. Done fantastic at Bradford. Probably took them as far as he could. Jumped before the new owners pushed him. I still have a lot of respect for Parky as I thought he did as good a job as he could have for us. I was one of those who liked him. I was personally disappointed when he was sacked but what a permanent replacement we ended up getting after Parky left who of course I still hold in very highest of highest regards. I for one will be giving Parky a good reception when he comes to The Valley with Bolton this season. Legend!
I was concerned about his future when I saw the Bradford takeover news. So really pleased for him now. I looked for Bradford results occasionally and it will be Bolton next season. Best of luck Parky!
Always came over as a Charlton type person. Some of the stick he took was harsh. My favorite moment of his tenure was that late late Benno winner Carlisle.
The football under him was dreadful and having watched a bit of Bradford recently (live nearby) he's philosophy hasn't changed. They love him there though.
Parky was no relegation rescue manager (like say, Warnock), but well capable of assembling a decent squad with virtually no budget and developing that team.
The season we lost to Swindon in the playoffs when Nicky Bailey gave away a goal and skied a penalty shows how fine the margin is between success and failure - in any case finishing on 84 points, we were only a win away from automatic promotion. Never really given the credit deserved for that season.
The next season his budget was slashed and any new signings were free transfers and loans. Yet Charlton was 4th in the table when he was sacked.
His spells at Colchester and Bradford have shown that his forte is building a team on good foundations from scratch and gradually developing it in to a promotion challenging team.
I am very disappointed that Phil Parkinson has left my team for Bolton Wanderers. He has turned the football club around in just under five years and anyone reading this post will be aware of his achievements at Bradford City. When the new German owners came in, it was always a possibility that Parkinson may leave. How many times do we see a change in manager when new owners come in? Phil has said that he left on good terms and that he wasn't pushed out of the football club. Will we ever know the real truth? The worrying thing is that all of his back room staff have left us too and I fear that players like Hanson, McArdle and Meredith may follow him over the Pennines. To be fair, although we made the play offs last season, the style of football that we played wasn't the best last season. I am not saying that I wanted Phil to go, however I like to see good football and it's not just about the result of a game. Anyway, as others have said on this thread, Phil is a lovely person. I have spoken with him on a couple of occasions including at a Bradford City Supporters Trust event. He was very genuine and was interested in what I discussed with him and he even signed five posters that I had taken with me, for myself and friends who are supporters. I will certainly applaud him at The Macron Stadium and also welcome him back to Valley Parade. In Parkinson We Trust!
From the depths of league 2 to the brink of the championship, via a Capital One Cup final appearance and giantkillings of Aston Villa, Arsenal and Chelsea thrown in, Parky has done well there, and in all honesty I have no idea why he has left them for Bolton.
Then again being Charlton fans, the concept of a manager leaving and us wishing he stayed hasn't happened all too often

Bradford have recently been taken over.
I imagine the new board had ideas for the future that did not involve Parkinson.

Don't know how you get to know these story's before any of us
Are you sure u don't work for sky sports
Time to see what he can do with money in this League rather than working on a shoe string budget
P.S. Does the bloke EVER age?

Five years between the pics and he's not changed one bit!!
Lovely guy & deserves recognition for hard graft & professionalism.
Wonder if he jumped before he was pushed.

Sense he is joining there in a similar atmosphere as when he did here.
Hopefully he can dig up Doc, Abbott and Benson from somewhere and guide us to 6 points this season.
(About a month after the 4-0 @ the toolbox)

Good luck, Parky.
He was a decent honest manager.

"German owners, they must want a German manager with experience of L1, which leaves a shortlist of 1!"
