NEXT SEASON DIV 1 .. BOOKIES ODDS

edited June 2016 in General Charlton
Paddy Power is quoting these odds, other bookies are quoting similarly.
At 12/1, each way a quarter the odds, 1 2 and 3, we look a good(ish) punt ?

Oxford United 10/1 Walsall 14/1 Swindon 33/1

  • We don't even know what our squad is let alone a line up Lincs
  • Can get 20's elsewhere but I would keep my pound note in my wallet on us.
  • it's a very wide open market .. Sheffield U are the favs for about the fifth season on the trot .. cliffhanger .. can they do it this time ((:>)
  • 12/1 to do what? If it's win a corner then I'll have a wager.
  • 3rd favourites 10-1, 11th favourites 14-1 AKA no-one has any idea.
  • I wouldn't take 50s let alone 12s. What are our relegation odds ?
  • Bookies thinking Sheffield United will come good this year

  • 10-1 for Oxford ? Seems a bit tight to me.
  • More interested in what our odds are on to get relegated
  • I'm gonna stick £10 on promotion and £10 on relegation on day 1 of the season... one of those will cheer me up.

Get your wallet out by all means Lincs ..

Brussels may mean we can avoid a consecutive relegation but no more . 12/1 we finish above Gillingham but more like 200/1 to go up.

The party is over mate and it ended the day they turned up, sacked Chris Powell.and sabotaged a decent football club.

The only reason they sacked Powell was because slater and TJ did not have the bollocks to do it before Xmas
Bait the hook, see who bites...
  • The scum at 10s looks quite tempting, if they can keep their best players and if I could bring myself to bet on them.
  • No value there, not even by bookmakers' usual football rip off rates.
Betting on Charlton is always ruinous, my inveterate gambling colleague (eventually) learned to avoid having Charlton in any kind of acca. I told him (Villa fan) for about 2 years before he grasped it, Charlton had scuppered 3 or 4 sizeable paydays for him in that time.
The exception that proves the rule: I stuck £5 on the draw for the 98 playoff final (21/10 I seem to remember) certainly paid for a box of panadol and a fry up the morning after and hair of the dog in the pub at lunchtime. The only time a wager on Charlton has paid me.
  • 12/1 to do what? If it's win a corner then I'll have a wager.

Win a corner yes. Defend a corner no.

I wonder what the odds are on us to not have a shot on target in the first 3 games are?
  • People are still taking Colin's bait?

  • I look forward to returning to this thread in 12 months when we're still in league 1/potentially relegated.

What's taken you so long to realise that?!
