At last a Manager

Could of been a lot worse, considering our situation and what's gone on before you've got to say well done. He knows what's needed to get out of these tight divisions, obviously gets the best from his players and comes across as a sound, solid honest manager, so I welcome him to the Valley and wish him well.
But nothing will improve unless the wonderfull Roland has also learnt from all the mistakes made since his arrival, and allows our new manager, to manage and not just to agree to everything put in front of him. Mr Roland, Sir we are now looking at this as the begining of a 3year commitment to rebuild the trust of the fans and to bring back the Charlton you lost, the tranfer deals that will now begin will tell us all if anything has changed..........lets hope it has.

Not sure we really needed another thread but regardless, you do know he's never been promoted right?
  • A major achievement.
  • I can't believe we just got ourselves a shiny new manager and there's hardly any new threads on here!

    What it is:

Duchatelet (most likely very reluctantly) gave in to the most sensible realistic option via this appointment.

    What other choice was available?

    1. If he recruited anyone within the reliable trustworthy network, the protests would have spiralled out of control. His business would be at a max loss and money is just literally being pissed away...from his personal perspective, things can't really continue like this, even though it's our fault we don't think it's all good to do what he does.

    2. If he sells the club he's not going to get anything anywhere near what he would personally deem acceptable for what he thinks he has put into the club. Millions of pounds spent on getting a club relegated. It's hilariously awful in every way. "He doesn't do failure"

    3. He's probably considered the option of just f*cking us into the ground....but maybe thought that might not be in his overall best interests when hungover in the morning.

Roland has got in a British experienced league qualified manager, simply, because he had to.

It's not out of love or change of beliefs.

    Agreed

    Nor has Mourinho or Ferguson.

They've won titles which in a sense is the top flight equivalent of being promoted though
