Derby appoint Nigel Pearson as manager
Chairman Mel Morris said: "We are delighted to welcome Nigel to the club. He is a proven winner, a highly experienced manager who has track record of success in the Championship and has also coached successfully in the Premier League.
“It is also great to have Chris Powell back at the football club as our assistant manager. Chris is a top quality coach and gave us excellent service as a player. He will join Kevin Phillips and Pascal Zuberbuhler in the first-team coaching

*ducks whilst anti-Powell brigade pelt me with rotten tomatoes*
Looking forward to seeing Pearson scare the life out of Tom Ince.

Bit of a dream team those two.
Good luck to Powell and hope he does well there.
Only concern is once your a manager.....are you then happy enough to be the assistant to someone else?
Funnily enough his appointment at Derby has rounded off my plans for next season. After 45 years of following the Addicks home and away my football menu next year will be Salisbury City, my local team, where I have just bought a season ticket, some Brighton games to support them after they supported us so admirably last season, Derby games in London and the one Charlton game near me at Swindon.
What a shame.
I will miss the evening games at the Valley. I used to love the train journeys to London going to the game but at least I will be able to replicate that for the Derby games in London.
I will be back though when those lying bastards, Duchebag, Liar Liar and Toxic Murray leave my club.
Rams supremo Mel Morris has put Birmingham City manager Rowett at the top of his hit list to replace Pearson.
Rowett has done a huge job with the Blues after his first crack at management with Burton and he could be tempted.
The former Derby player knows that County have huge untapped potential and an ambitious owner.
Rowett is emerging as first choice ahead of Steve Bruce who met Derby in the summer but was overlooked. He may be disappointed again.
Hopefully Powell is given a chance, but looking unlikely that they'll stick with him now Pearson is gone.
