  • 21 average of first team next season.

    total points?
  • Pope, Solly, Fox, Jackson, Harriott (maybe), THD, Lennon

This is going to be gold - Jackson & Solly will struggle for Sat/Tues and will both pick up injuries to rule them out. We are being ran as Crewe, we will be a league above them but we will follow them down into League Two.

I'm getting angry thinking about it. We will struggle to get half the points SCP got on the same wage and expenditure bracket.
  • Can you all please do me a favour.

Please end this Colin obsession. If he is a wind up then he is a fantastic one as he gets so many to bite every time.

To many threads are being derailed by responding to his comments. JUST IGNORE

Who do you think you are, some sort of owner/dicratorship?

I know you. I know where you live. Think on, sonny!

    ;-)
  • PS. Yes. I may have had a couple.
  • Same budget as Powell, but with absolutely none of the goodwill, momentum, early planning or ability to spot bargain talent.

    Mid-table or lower.

    Mid table!!!!

    I dream of mid-table.

If it was Teixeira, Bauer, Kashi, Cousins, JBG, Lookman and Vetokele then that's OK, but it's more likely:

Fox, Johnson, Jackson, Bergdich, Ceballos, Ba and Harriott

    Sarr....

  • Where does she live when she is in London?

    Canary Wharf area I believe.
What a soulless shithole. Canary Wharf is pretty shit too.

  • Prediction:

She thinks we'll be pleasantly surprised to keep hold of Reza

They'll fail to sell Tex due to his good deal, and end up loaning him out for the rest of his 4 year contract to odd teams, while subsidising his wages.
  • Same budget as Powell but without factoring in the massive inflationary costs in football over the last few years.

    Counting back:

This year (15/16) relegated with apparently one of the lowest three budgets in the championship (later revised to one of the largest but money all down the toilet)

Last year (14/15) break even budget initially but money spent towards the end to keep us up, finish a surprising 12th

Year before (13/14) Riga keeps us up in 18

Powell year before 9th with no money.

Why are we surprised at this news, when it is a partly a consequence of our own actions?. We know RD dislikes dipping his hand into his own pocket, yet we are currently in the process of denying him various normal income streams. We have targeted sponsorship, programme sales, kit purchases, bar and catering income and refused to take up season tickets, in the hope he sells the club. We should not be suprised that he is unwilling to fund a promotion challenge out of his own money.
  • 3 pages so far on a purely speculative thread based on comments by an unknown guy who just happened to mention he'd been talking to KM! Let's just say I'm a little skeptical.
  • Its called doing a Blackpool, except the majority of our squad will be under 21 players with the odd sprinkling of League One experience players.

Tex is too good for League One

I think players like Bauer and Kashi will stay cos they are injury prone and still fairly Unknown.

Unlikely I'm afraid. They are three of our highest earners. I've been told if we can get them off the wage bill we will.

This summer is a complete rebuild job. I'm expecting a team built around Pope, Lennon & Jackson.
No disrespect to the players mentioned (two are strong up and comers and one is a legend), but that approach will almost certainly not get us out of the division. Well it might but not in the direction we want anyway!
  • Doomed we are doomed.
  • KATRIEN MEIRE makes the huge assumption that she can move on Texeria and others.

Look how she struggled with Reza, Polish Pete and Tucedean.
  • Texeira is a decent central defender who is championship level, and has played at a lot of clubs. I can see him being moved on. I can see Duchatelet selling every half decent player in the team and leaving the core of the team to be the Under 21 team with some of the league one standard players that Charlton can't move on (Sarr / Bergdich). In Duchatelet's eyes the Under 21 team won the title for their division and will think they are good enough. It is also a chance to further try out his mad theories

The only good thing about League One where Duchatelet is concerned is that he can't load the club with any more debt and force Charlton to pay interest on the new amounts he 'invests' in the club. Having replaced the first team with the Under 21 team, taken what money he can from player sales and realising that he the team is not going to get promoted this season, I think there is a very good chance that Duchatelet will sell in December at the turn of the year.

But it would be damned boring without it wouldn't it. I'm glad the OP posted what he heard.
  • I think that even RD realises that running Charlton in L1 is unsustainable - so only 2 options. (1) Sell-up which he seems loath to do as he is egomaniacal and has a "vision" or (2) Get back to the Championship to be sustainable. So if he takes option (2) he must try and retain some key players - or identify, as SCP did, some good L1/Championship level players who can get us back up. I think he will try and retain some of our best players and not have a clear out. A lot depends on what happens with Lookman - if he goes for (a reported) £8m then maybe we will push for a quick return? I think its really hard to know what RD is thinking...

It's in his interests to get us back into the Championship though, so in his interests to try to keep the better players. If his reaction to protests is to cut investment then it's his cash (and our club) which is being pissed away
  • KATRIEN MEIRE makes the huge assumption that she can move on Texeria and others.

Look how she struggled with Reza, Polish Pete and Tucedean.

And Katrien Meire also ended up GIVING AWAY Michael Morrison. One of the best centre halves outside of the Premier League. Yes, Katrien Meire is quite useless at any form of negotiation.
Forget her numerous other defects, the most worrying aspect of her time here is that she has been responsible for hiring and firing players when she is clearly utterly ignorant of how the process works or what constitutes the right footballer for this club at this time. As long as she stick her (long) nose into that part of the club were are royally screwed.

She learned her trade from Richard Murray.

so we offer solly an extra year only to send him out on loan .. .. utter rubbish

    Where's that been said?

They're currently trying to negotiate a deal. As far as I know that's all that's been said.
It hasn't. Just Colin doing his usual of taking a hint of truth and twisting it to wind up members of this forum.

All that had been said was he had been offered a new contract, they didn't say if the terms were better or worse, just he has been offered a new contract. Should just add it was the liar who made it public.
    Which one? Meire or Colin1961?
Have you ever seen them in the same room?

By only afford to keep 7 players what she means is theres 7 players they are prepared to pay the wages of. Jackson, Pope, THD etc.

The comment from KM about the fact we are matching the budget of the year we last got promoted in L1 says it all. That was a very very low budget, it was the miracle work of those behind the scenes & CP and co. finding so many freebies.

We will be a youth team this year - that's an ideal scenario for RD. Low wages and he thinks we can unearth gems like Lookman & Gomez often.

Predicted a very similar outcome almost 2 years ago when he took us over, turn us inside out and dry us of anything and everything. Utterly depressing.

By L1 standards it wouldn't be low though. I can't imagine the wages of Yann, BWP, Hamer, Wiggins, Haynes etc being insignificant
Yeah high wages.. but Powelly has said he only paid fees for 2 players. One of whom was Wiggins. I can't remember the other. I can't imagine t combined fees for any of that group that came in that summer were more than £600k
