Clear out in summer

  • Cousins will go if we're relegated - he deserves better than this mess.

He'll go as long as there's the faintest bit of interest in him. It's what Roland does.
  • With Mel leaving the club today it looks like we're having the clear out now...

I can't see why we'd want to move Cousins on unless his wages are really high, and surely that would depend on whether we get relegated or not.

More to the point, WHO would be making these decisions anyway?

Because if (when) we're relegated he's one of the few players who will be in demand and can be sold for a few quid. Going to be harder to get other players off the books to save money.
But then you don't drop hints that you want to move someone one, you insist that they stay and make a pursuer pay over the odds to force you to sell the player in question.

Besides, if we stay up he may want to stay (unlike JBG who will no doubt be trying to impress mother clubs during the Euros!)
  • Another Summer and season of stability at Charlton Athletic, I can't wait!
  • Yet more instability, just what the club needs.
  • In addition, a number of current regulars are on loan or short term deals, e.g. Motta, Yun, Fanni), I'd assume they'd all go if we get relegated...
  • Jose Riga will be having nightmare flashbacks of his Blackpool pre-season. That's where we are heading!!
  • We all know that the new faces will arrive a few days before our first league match with welling having half a team of trialists.
  • Remember that tweet from Charlton in the summer saying we were fielding a bunch of Trialists...

I seriously believe its going to bite us on the arse this pre-season
  • Given all the drama going around at minute, I completely forgot about potential summer madness.

Will be interesting to see what happens.

They're warming up for it as we speak

  • I can see Roland selling every player possible worth any money and pocketing it before selling up like he did at leige
  • the club may like to move a lot of those players on. Those on contract may be difficult (except for the decent 3 or 4).
Do we have a current list of players and when their contracts expire anywhere?

According to Ketts on Dr Kish:

Whether Charlton survive or not, there is certain to be a massive turnover of players in the summer.

Particularly if they are relegated, the Addicks will want to move players on, including some of their big earners.

Players such as Stephen Henderson, Naby Sarr, Johann Berg Gudmundsson, Jordan Cousins, Cristian Ceballos, Igor Vetokele, Reza Ghoochannejhad, Zakaraya Bergdich, El-Hadji Ba, Joe Pigott, Roger Johnson and Tony Watt are amongst those who may start the next campaign away from The Valley.

Charlton have an option to buy Simon Makienok in the summer, but it seems unlikely that they will take it up.

This is just a taster, whole article is interesting, in my opinion, I hope you do not mind me putting some of your comments on here Ketts, just enough to encourage others to read your article

  • Hopefully Cahones will be part of this clear out
  • I can see Roland selling every player possible worth any money and pocketing it before selling up like he did at leige

    This.

  • Much easier to just list who will be there come August. You will only need a Post-It note.
  • There's likely to be a big clear-out of supporters, I should think. Isn't that what they want?
  • Roland already knows the end game has started so he will want to start cashing in his 'assets' before he commences talks with any potential buyer.
  • I don't think you can blame any player who wants to move on. I'd imagine every single member of the team would go elsewhere if they had the option to, assuming similar wages.

  • I can't bring myself to even think about next season. Who knows what will be left of our club by then?
