This week, subsequent to events before, during and after the Middlesbrough match, the Club has issued two statements via its own website. This has confused me?
The first statement, issued on Monday, finally recognised the organised protests which have been taking place against the ownership, and stated that -
"Every supporter has the right to voice their opinion and we are determined to do everything we can to work together with supporters to build our relationship with them and make sure they remain at the heart of this club."
The second statement, issued yesterday (Tuesday), seems to contradict this; it states that fans (note - not customers!) "came to create disorder on the pitch" and that "Some individuals...want the club to fail".
So my questions to you - and I am sure that you can re-direct these to the appropriate department for response in line with the updated Club Charter - are as follows:
1. Did the same person who wrote the Monday statement also write the Tuesday statement, and who wrote these statements?
2. Why does the Club statement contain rhetoric questions?
3. Bearing in mind that Roland Duchatelet has not been at a Charlton match since October 2014, when did he recently meet any Charlton fans, where, and who are these fans? I presume you are talking about something more organised than just having his photograph taken on the train when here?
4. If the 12th Man in football is so crucial, why has our CEO alienated Charlton supporters by regularly, consistently, lying to fans (examples - season ticket fiasco; managerial interviews; managerial improvements, 2%, etc etc) in her two year tenure?
Can I point out that we do indeed require seven more points in the remaining games than our competitors, but they are also fighting a relegation battle and although Charlton may have gained 7 points in the last three games, our main relegation rivals Rotherham have gained 7 points too, MK Dons have gained 5, and Bristol City 3, so we are actually no better off than we were three games ago! From our starting position well behind these other teams, and with significant difficult fixtures coming up, we still have a huge task on our hands to avoid relegation.
Finally, no Charlton fan, of any age, wishes the Club to fail. If the CEO cannot see the difference between the support for the team and the vitriol aimed at the regime, then they are truly blind and it is indeed time for her to resign.
