Can We Do A Leicester?

Amidst my doom and gloom sharing of Charlton,, I,was abruptly reminded that a year ago Leicester were 7 points adrift at the bottom of the prem, I know I'm nuts and I think we're dead and buried, but a win tonight and the great escape could be on, COYR!!!!

  • What, and win the league next year?
  • We did a Leicester (that time it was to return to the Prem immediately and survive with a modicome of success) before on our return to the Prem. Curbs publicly used them as a model for us to follow.
  • I wouldn't back us to get 7 more points.
  • No. Leicester were incredibly unlucky in the first half of last season and were in a false position. We absolutely deserve to be in the bottom 3.
  • Not as long as ive got a hole in my a__
  • I thought Leicester were dead and buried and I'm still waiting for that prediction to come true. Look forward to them being relegated in '19-20 and me being proven right.

I think, by comparison, we have as a strong as squad as Leicester did compared to the rest of the league they were in, possibly even stronger. Before they went on that run, they'd gone 2-3 months of playing pretty well and having nothing to show for it. I watched their game against Man City, I think this was right before the run in, and they did everything well and managed to lose out by the odd goal.

Been thinking a lot about the performances we've put in over the last few weeks. It sounds, by many accounts, that the players have been working hard. It definitely seems that the tactics and system have improved. We've just had bad errors at bad times and it seems that we went through a stretch (Fulham, Preston in particular) where we paid for most if not all of them.

I don't see why this team can't go on a run and escape with the talent it has. It's frustrating that all season we complained about not having a squad, and then in February we got one, and it's now March and you feel like players are starting to bed in. There just isn't much room for error because of the way we've handled players and managers (or lack thereof in KF's case).

I'm enjoying the optimism around the forum the last couple days. I think we've won twice now since I joined CL in November. We can all go back to being miserable cnuts tomorrow or next weekend but it's been a nice little reprieve.

  • Yes and I will win the Open Championship this year playing off 16
  • Difference is Leicester were playing well and suffering some awful luck.

We, more often than not, look like we can't hit a cows arse with a banjo and I say 'goal' everytime a delivery is sent into our box to defend.

So no we won't be doing a Leicester anytime soon
  • What go bankrupt and not bother paying debts, then spend fortunes again trying to get to the PL? Well we can do the first bit but not the later.

And No to the staying up as well.
  • Doubt we'll score 7 goals between now and the end of the season, let alone make up 7 point.

What will you do if you are wrong?
  • Maybe…
I'd rather not sit on the fence.
  • More chance of doing a Luton
  • Talk to Frank
  • You can't predict football everything can change in 2 seasons.

    It's still a no.

Precisely. They were playing well and being unlucky, and their luck turned. We've been utterly terrible for the entire season, so I can't see the parallels.

  • To be fair we are doing a Lester Piggott....years of hard earned respect destroyed by daft financial decisions.

You are getting your Steve Walshes confused....otherwise a good effort!
  • Simple answer is no, however we could quite easily do a Portsmouth....
  • Oops, fair cop. I see this Steve Walsh was only a non-league player. What a load of rubbish - he'll soon get found out. Leicester to do a Charlton, I reckon
