Really interesting interview has been released after the legendary Sonny Pike decided to come forward.

I’d be more than happy to get out there, talk to academies, kids and parents, make sure they hear and learn about it, help them understand you mustn’t get too carried away... Cant think of any one better to do that to be honest.

  • Don't tell them your name .....
  • "With hindsight it is clear enough that he was a guinea pig in football’s ham-fisted early attempts to monetise young talent; some academy scholars these days are on the verge of becoming brands of their own and, while things may have moved on beyond return in the last two decades, Pike would be delighted to pass on his experience to interested players and clubs."

    Get Roland on the phone!!

careful, we know too well what happens when he sees an unfit footballer who hasn't played for a while and is on a free transfer...

Saw a documentary about Sonny years ago and wondered what became of him. There is nothing worse than parents who try to live their own ambitions through their kids they eventually turn them off the sport they love, saw it over and over again when i was doing a bit of squash coaching back in the day the kids were great but their parents were a bloody nightmare.

Nice to see he has a good life and is happy at least that is more important than anything
