his missus will want to vet the secretary's first though2

I heard a story about him once how he nearly signed for us from Millwall, but his brother got himself into some trouble and he had to leave London. I don't know how true that was.0
-
Only one issue... Previously we missed out on signing Tim Cahill because we couldnt get our owner (Murray) and Curbishley (Manager) in the same room with the player, because of that dithering he got pinched under our noses by Everton.
How the hell do we get Roland and Jose Riga in the same room here at the Valley together let alone Tim himself0 -
well, as far as I am aware, he was too 'friendly' with a female office worker at Millwank and his wife wanted to get as far away as possible to remove the temptation hence him going to Everton and not us. All allegedly of course ;-)petetheaddick said:I heard a story about him once how he nearly signed for us from Millwall, but his brother got himself into some trouble and he had to leave London. Didn't that female office worker work at The Valley beforehand?LargeAddick said:

He did the handcuff celebration after scoring which was related to an incident in Bromley that his brother was doing time for. Bromley is in Kent so you must be mistaken.petetheaddick said:I heard a story about him once how he nearly signed for us from Millwall, but his brother got himself into some trouble and he had to leave London. Also I think I'm right, but Tangoman at Palace was gonna sign Cahill, but allegedly wouldn't pay the agents fee.0
-
I'm sure we've heard all these nailed on rumors before , what I meant was do we think he'd be worth signing until the end of the season?0
-
So we're looking at a JJ-Cahill midfield? 442 it is then.0
-
Well he is 36 now, I don't know what his legs are like?buckshee said:I'm sure we've heard all these nailed on rumors before , what I meant was do we think he'd be worth signing until the end of the season?

We signed Danny Murphy instead. Hoolahan was 250,000 and we should have signed him 2 years previous when he was absolutely taking the piss in division 3 for Blackpool. But turning our noses up at paying 250k for him was a pivotal moment in our recent history.
Although to temper this slightly we had another pretty decent left footed Irish midfielder at the time and I don't remember many saying 'yeah sign hoolahan, Reid is definitely not going to leave'1 -

Went to schools with the victim and he was a mate of a mate from my area.0 -
Massively gutted we missed out on Hoolahan. Top notch little wizard and surprised he doesn't get more plaudits.Carter said:We signed Danny Murphy instead. Articulated limbs (x2) extending below the torso, extending all the way to his feet, providing both structural support and locomotion (providing both the power and leverage required for ambulatory movement).
But they're probably gone.5 -

I am I Sydney this week with work and the local press pretty certain he will go to the A League on loan or the Middle East0
-
I like Timmy Cahill, and he has been a talismanic figure for the Socceroo's, but his legs have gone (hence the move to China in the first place), and in the Championship the last thing we need is to be carrying another plodder - we have enough of those already!1
-
Whether his legs have 'gone' or not, would we want someone who has a Millwall tattoo, MFC I think, on his body?1

I'm sort of still in touch with the fella, he is now living in the US, and happily married. ( if a bloke can be!)Miserableoldgit said:

Must know you mate, was a witness to what happened that night and was only about 4 of us. The victim is a good friend of mine for many years, lost touch recently as he now lives in the States and I'm living in Oz.RodneyCharltonTrotta said:....

Wasn't a mate of his but just went to same schools and he was pals with an old mate I don't see anymore so not sure how he is. All pretty sesenseless though.Miserableoldgit said:

vet the secretary's what exactly? As in something belonging to the (singular) secretary.LargeAddick said:his missus will want to vet the secretary's first though
or: vet the secretaries? As in a number of the administrative support staff.
Remedial punctuation session for English as a second language now over. Mrs Cahill shouldn't be delayed too long in assessing the chances of Timothy finding suitable adulterers, given how depleted the staff is these days.
TC's alleged off field scoring aside, if he's any sort of fit, I'd have him in the team quicksmart. With Jordan Cousins's hamstring injury TC would immediately be the best midfielder in the squad, always knew where the goal was and was great at winding up the opposition. He also had the good sense/taste to leave the spanners when the chance came.
