Reasons for remaining hopeful

  • Even if we have a reasonable run from now until the end of the season, we are now so far behind that we need one of MK Dons or Bristol City to have a major wobble, AND for Rotherham and Bolton to continue as they are.

In other words, we need snoopers already.

The U21 have had a fantastic run of results, 15 wins and 5 draws,
and have been told that they will be our 1st team next season on
1500 hundred pounds a week each.

    Happy Egalitarian days.

1500 hundred = 150,000. A week! That's damn good wages, more than most current Premiership players. This crop of U21s must be world beaters.

I think you mean snookers, but I like the idea of needing snoopers too.
  • We are not as bad as Colchester Utd who have not won in the league since 20th october. They only have one win in all competitions in four months against......... youve guessed it Charlton Athletic.
  • We now have five points from four games. If we carry on in this manner we will have 43/44 points ( fractions always hated them). We will have to beat MK Dons and probably get a result against Burnley last game who may need three points themselves. Does not look good does it.
Five wins on the bounce anyone?

Hopefully by that stage Burnley will be celebrating promotion already (I'll chip in for their pre match champagne) OR guaranteed to be in the playoffs and thus resting players/saving energy...

The real killer for us was the results for Fulham,MKD and Bristol, we have to do something similar to some of the better teams
  • Good on you mate, totally sick of all the doom and gloom on here. Until it's mathmatically impossible for us to stay up, I will be urging the team on and if the worse does happen, I'll do it all again next season!

Buy the Heinekens in the New Barrack Tavern at Sheffield and I'll sing from your hymn sheet amigo!
  • We seem to be stopping the flow of goals that are being shipped against us...

    - One penalty against Bristol City
    - Once (vs Blackburn) where the ball hit Stephen Henderson in the back and went in after a great save
    - One goal against Rotherham which we cant really complain about.

Igor Vetokele showed how dangerous he can be (against Rotherham) so hopefully he'll be fit again for Fulham.

MK Dons beating Derby means nothing... We needed two wins before our game this Weekend to catch and climb above our rivals, we still need two wins to catch our rivals, we just need an extra point / win to climb to safety depending on our Goal Difference.

Fat lady is still a long way from singing
  • The pitch is good, the sign is fixed and the women, under 21,18,16 and 5s are all doing really well..

and new taps in the East Stand bogs - still freezing cold water though

Interesting that its Blackburn v Fulham on Tuesday night... A draw between those two and then a win for Charlton on Saturday (Remember this is a thread for remaining hopeful) will truly suck those teams into the mix

I second that, you end up just splashing the finger and thump you held your chopper with rather than a full wash.

I'd imagine that a boy could walk a bit funny after that.....
  • We dont have this Owner in charge @ Charlton... At least Roland hasnt hired someone after they were sacked three months ago (Although Jan-May is almost three months so we could see Fraeye back next season)

    IACHINI RETURNS TO PALERMO
Palermo have appointed Giuseppe Iachini as head coach just three months after he was sacked by the Serie A club.

The 51-year-old left Stadio Renzo Barbera in November and was replaced by Davide Ballardini but results have hardly improved for the Rosanero.

Ballardini left the club on January 11 and the intended replacement, Guillermo Barros Schelotto, quickly left after his paperwork was refused by UEFA.

Giovanni Bosi was in charge on Sunday but a 3-1 defeat to Torino forced owner Maurizio Zamparini into yet another managerial change with Iachini welcomed back.

But you do really have to feel sorry for Makienok, seeing as how that's his parent club....
