Why does the SLP think it is good for them to print this garbage
Because with each statement in Black and White, by the CEO, and now we have smoked out the Owner, To put down his views. We know for certain that he wants us to be The Crewe Alexander of the South. (heading for League 2 )
The B + W Campaign have shown yet again that Cafc folk, can think outside the box.
He is certainly looking to create Charlton Alexandra and has done for the last 2 years. What he doesn't understand is the effect of going down into the Pub League will have on the core support. Perhaps he has been briefed to expect 13k to turn up whether it's the Championship or League One and we are being taken for mugs.
To base your strategy solely on youth development is "a house built on sand". What if the production line at the Academy dries up? What if the better kids go elsewhere? If we go down this season, we won't see the Championship again for a few years.
Competent and well executed piece of PR. It's not designed to change the minds of the 2%. In my view it's been done to support KM and RM and to protect RD's business reputation.
RD (or more likely RD's advisers- I don't get the impression he spends much time thinking about the Charlton project) will probably be pleased with the SLP coverage. Presumably it will be used in Belgium too.
Can't agree with that, because it's more like 80 per cent of the fanbase that is lined up against him and you can't operate the club in that situation, but he's said nothing that will mitigate that. What he's demonstrated is that far from being a great intelligence behind the project, there's a disconnected fool who understands neither the extent nor the nature of the problem.
I don't expect him to acknowledge the weakness of the individuals around him, but it is too late for all of them. He would have been better off saying nothing.
I acknowledge that disagreeing with you is like a Catholic arguing with the pope...
Of course neither of us know what Roland was trying to achieve. I suspect that most neutrals after reading a few sentences would believe that Roland is a competent, thoughtful, reasonably intelligent owner of a football club. I also suspect that the majority of Charlton's less active fans wouldn't be alarmed by what Roland has said.
So far the SLP interview Is positive coverage for the club and there's no obvious slip-ups. So yes, a competent, well executed bit of PR and if the team can manage a few wins this month, the protests will quieten down for a while.
Most fans will be unhappy about our league position, the prospect of relegation, poor results, lack of quality on the pitch, poor atmosphere and so on. I don't believe that 80% blame the owner and I certainly don't think that 80% are 'lined up against' the owner.
I do agree with those posters that point out that Charlton Life is not representative of our fanbase. We're a minority (anorak ultras) that attach a disproportionate importance to a football to which we probably have a slightly irrational attachment to.
The interview hasn't changed how I feel at all, but then the interview wasn't aimed at me- or you.
I'll now go and say a few Hail Marys...
It's very true that Charlton Life, by definition, attracts people with a disproportionate interest in what's going on. However, that will also be true of the people who read stories about the club on the SLP's website. Only a tiny fraction of Charlton fans, certainly well under 10 per cent, read the paper.
There has been a significant shift in the last six weeks in which a tranche of people who were always against protest and wanted to believe the best of the regime have changed sides. They won't be won back by a set of platitudes that don't describe what they have seen or offer any relief from it.
It would be unfair so I won't, but I could give you some startling names who are now supporting the protest, including one very respected Charlton figure who rang me this week. They really have lost the vast majority of people, including many of those sitting around Meire and Murray in the directors box.
What a complete load of crap. None of us know anything about football apparently. As for the bit about PV's email being vague - he would have found out what it was about IF HE HAD BLOODY ANSWERED IT ! He's come over as an arrogant silly old man who thinks he has the answer to everything but actually has the answer to sod all.

@NornIrishAddick : FOR blasphemy like that, you might want to add a few Acts of Contrition....
Quite right. Bless me Airman for I have sinned....
Oh give it a rest with the Airman thing.
Nobody, least of all the admin of this site, pretend that it is a cross section of fans opinion. But then you have the regular Trust surveys. How would you dismiss them? Admittedly they have to be of the type that are voluntary participation. However, the significant thing is how those figures have shifted against the regime since the autumn. Before that we were restrained in our criticism, and tried to build bridges, because thats what the membership told us they want. As a result we too disagreed with a lot of what Airman said 18 -24 months ago. Undortunately a lot of criticisms have turned out to be on the money. Now if we and the majority of Trust members now get it, it seems likely that most others are getting it too. 80% lined up against him may be a bit strong, but the converse - 20% still backing him - seems more than likely
The figures from the most recent Trust survey of 770 fans, including 50 at the ground at the Blackburn match, were as follows:
- 67% protesting because they want a change of ownership - 16% protesting because they want the current owner to change his ways - 10% not currently protesting, but intend to/ are considering - 5% not protesting because not sure what the protests will achieve - 2% not protesting because they support the current ownership
Figures are statistically robust, and about as representative as you can get on any self-completion survey. I'm struggling to find much evidence of this group of "silent regime supporters who just want to watch the match".
Total w*nk from a Total W*nker who completely doesn't get it. If I was her boss she would've gone long ago but it shows he really isn't that bothered and he still thinks he won't repeat same mistakes. He's a chancer who has tried to do it on the cheap and come unstuck. Good Buisnessman - My Arse ! The bloke deserves to lose big time. Charlton is really just a hobby to him.
“I have to put something straight. It was an email which he sent and it read as follows ‘can we talk about an investment opportunity in Charlton’. Now, what is an investment opportunity? Maybe they want to invest in a new billboard or I don’t know. “I diverted this email to my CEO to handle it. It is only five or six months later it became clear that what he wanted to talk about was a takeover of the club. Such enquiries from middlemen we get every couple of weeks”
This email came from Peter Varney, not some west African email asking for a loan while he get clearance on his money.
Peter Varney: remember the guy, who was in charge when we were a beckon of light to the rest of English football and reached 4th in the Premiership on the pitch and 1st off the Pitch ?
Why throw that blueprint away ?
How did she handle it, Roland? Even if she thought it was a billboard, she could have sent a junior member of staff. Instead she listened to Richard Murray, who in turn bragged that he'd prevented them talking to him, then denied all knowledge of the approach when the Voice came out, until it was pointed out to him he was copied into the emails.
My first reaction on reading that "middlemen " comment was, what a deliberate put down that was. What a snidy remark. Their contemptuous attitude is there in the detail. Middlemen eh, that's why we were singing PV's name at the protest, he was much better than your middle woman.

Definitely Sue Parkes...
I have seen the LIGHT!!!!! Praise the something or other.
Just having a little Damascene moment here.
Listening to Charlton Live, Louis almost got away with it, it was Sue he was interviewing wasn't it????
Duchatelet said: “We have sometimes made the same mistakes again. But in my businesses we have a culture of learning from mistakes. This is very common in industry. If you don’t do that you are stupid.
Nailed it Roly mate - I can only conclude that you are stupid
I didn't finish reading the second one and only skimmed through the first and the third. He genuinely thinks he and the CEO did nothing wrong in the Peter Varney email incident? It makes me feel sick. To be honest I only watched a few minutes of the fans forum video the other day - I watched the whole video of last year's fans meeting but a lot has happened since then and nowadays I tend to have zero interest in anything these lot have to say. I just hope they'll be gone soon - yep, it's the Chinese New Year and that is one of my New Year's wishes.
i happen to no his new head of communications and marketing is doing a level 2 training course at the moment so expect him to be first team manager in 18 months time
It really is quite astonishing that these so called professionals somehow endeavour to make themselves look even more stupid and incompetent with every interview/statement they make. That's the one positive from all this guff, it is only likely to fuel the fire.

Bringing down the MAN, from within.
How could I have ever doubted her (sanity)?

Even before reading, what sort of image does that send to the fans, he really needs to hire David Beckham's Media team
(I bet he cheats at Battleships too)
