  • Cruyff
Campbell A (come on, the man is a legend)

    Legend indeed.
  • Can remember being really impressed by Lineker in his hey day....very quick.
  • Cristiano Ronaldo. The performance that always stands out was against us when he was still only 18/19 and it was only his 4th or 5th game for United.

His skill and ability to beat players was just jaw dropping. The speed of his feet was actually baffling, in the sense that he would skill his way through our players, but I wasn't even entirely sure how.
  • Went to see Ipswich v Man Utd in 1974....haven't got the programme but guess there were some pretty decent MU players in that team.....or maybe not as Ipswich won 4-0.
  • Derek Hales. Numerous goals on numerous occasions
  • 1986, Ossie Ardiles testimonial. Spurs v Liam Brady's Inter. Spurs midfield was Hoddle, Ardiles and Maradonna. Worth going to WHL (for one night) to see.
  • For me, Ferenc Puskas, and George Best, especially when you see the muddy pitches they often played on.
  • Best, Maradona, Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo
  • Are people talking players based on the performance we saw them at, or just best player even if they were average that day?

Best individual Charlton performance in the flesh would have to be Scott Parker bossing the Chelsea Boxing Day game (also probably the best Charlton team performance I've seen). Though Lisbie's hat trick vs Liverpool was mentioned to me by a Liverpool fan I met today and would run it close.

Outside of Charlton, James Rodriguez was stunning against Uruguay in the 2014 World Cup (also scoring the best goal I'll probably ever see in person) or Henry killed us single handedly one year at Highbury.
  • Against Charlton - Ronaldo, Henry, Gazza

Out of others seen live - Messi

I also went to that to see Maradona.

Also went to Keith Burkinshaws testimonial the following season. Liam Brady played for Spurs.

Ask any Spurs fan; who is the best player to wear a Spurs shirt? When they come back with Mackay or Greaves or Hoddle, hit them with Maradona or Brady!
  • two sodjes
  • Trevor Francis, John Barnes, Ronaldo, Kinsella, T. Henry,
  • Marco Motta.
  • I have been lucky enough to have seen,Tom Finney,Stan Matthews,Len Shackleton, and countless more, nobody comes near George Best, what a pity TV coverage wasnt the same when he played. He guested for Charlton age 38,against Arsenal, and was still outstanding.
  • I saw Robinho playing for Real Madrid, and it was probably the best individual performance I've ever seen. He was unstoppable.
  • Not many (any?) Liverpool players included. What about the likes of Kevin Keegan, Ian Rush, Robbie Fowler....?
  • Ian Rush or Morgan fox, difficult choice but rush...just
  • Adriano, though he was past his best. Same goes for George Weah

  • Stanley Mathews at the Valley against either Stoke or Blackpool, too long ago to remember which
  • Ian Rush or Morgan fox, difficult choice but rush...just

Ian Rush was a superb goal scorer, particularly before he moved into Juve.

Actually he wasn't bad on his return to Liverpool either.
  • Went to see Best play at Stamford Bridge in 1967, but the player that stood out that day for me was Charlie Cooke, Chelsea's Scottish winger. Went back to the Bridge many times just to wallow in his skills, always got the impression that the ball was tied to his bootlaces.
  • George Best, Bobby Charlton, Bobby Moore, Jimmy Greaves, Becks, Gazza, Linekar, Gordon Banks list is endless but then I am 61 and been going to matches since I was 9. Been lucky to have seen so many. Oh nearly forgot Harry Gregory and Matt Tees!
  • Stanley Matthews, Tom Finney, George Best, Bobby Moore, Rob Rensenbrink, Eusebio, Stuart Leary, Sam Bartram
  • Greatest seen live: Charlton , Brooking, Best ,Gazza , Zola and Bergkamp.

Best seen at the Valley: Henry, Di Canio

Best Charlton seen: Killer and Claus
  • Henry, Ronaldo, Giggs, young Rooney in euro 2004, Barnes in his prime, Pouso, Bagheri, Traore
  • I saw George Weah twice. Both times he was utter shite. As was Zlatan when I saw him at Euro 2008.
  • Ian Rush or Morgan fox, difficult choice but rush...just

And he also came out with the best thick footballer quote ever 'I coukdnt settle in Italy, it was like living in a foreign country'
