Valley Gold - an Alternative?

Today , I believe most valley gold member are receiving letters including the newsletter as well as a statement regarding the valley gold comitee and their stance on what's happened/happening ...
Reading a lot of views on here about Valley gold - refusing to give anymore to produce players who will benefit the owners pockets Etc , I thought of an alternative to just 'giving' the academy/RD money!

Could we not just have it classed as a loan?
Duchatelet has done this sort of thing with the money he has put into the club and I feel it's high time we give Roland a taste of his own medicine- let's negotiate/class what Valley Gold donates or gives to the club and academy as a loan , something that would then benefit the members if and when we disagree about selling a player or things get nasty with RD.

This would give us a step up and a voice regarding the future sales of our academy products , as well as possibly giving a pivotal stance to how the owners run the club with their 'product line' management!

  • Can't do that with the existing scheme due to the Gambling Act and its constitution, notwithstanding the unlikelihood of RD bothering with a £120k loan when he's already got loans into the club of £25m.
  • I for one will still be contributing to Valley Gold. I have given to VG since it began and in all that time we have sold our best players that is not something new. I still feel that I am helping the youth develop.
  • Keep collecting, but don't donate monies to anything. Just save and save and save. When Roland has finally run this club right into the ground, you'll be able to buy the whole set-up for a couple of grand.

Also fraught with danger in respect of other pieces of legislation.
The legal definition of a "loan" is no different from that for a "deposit" (except deposits or prepayments for goods or services). After all, when you deposit money with a bank, you are really just lending it to them.
So the club might become a deposit-taker as defined and need to be authorised as such.
(In case anyone is wondering, which I am sure you are not, to be caught by the legislation, you have to accept loans/deposits with some degree of frequency and there are other opt outs for close relatives, company directors, money lending businesses, etc. Without such exceptions, borrowing a fiver from a mate in the pub would be illegal.)
Anyway, in short, setting up such a scheme to either comply with the law or circumvent it would be expensive if only because of the cost of the specialist legal advice (not from a numpty like KM) that would be required.
  • it is simple stop paying VG, and put £10 a month into a savings account, when Rolland is gone donate all the cash to VG.

The point is that under RD the players are exposed too soon, they are then sold for a quick buck.
Where is the pride in that? It's completely the wrong way of how valley gold and our academy has operated over the previous 20 years, why should it change now? To help line RD's pockets? bollocks to that!

They may be - playing devil's advocate though, who exactly has been sold for a quick buck? Gomez had a release clause, Poyet walked.

I think the fee we get for Lookman will be a measure, but got whatever reason our young players are getting first team action. Cousins, Lookman, Solly, Fox, Harriott etc. are still with us.

Put another way, they kids might not be ready but where would we be without their talent?
