The more I think about it....

edited May 2007 in General Charlton
the more disgusted I am at tonights performance. There was no heart or passion out there tonight. We did not close down their players and gave them all sorts of time on the ball. You wouldn't think they were fighting for their prem lives. Just about sums up our season. I hope that consortium comes in and we can get rid of all the deadwood.....

  • We don't need this consortium to come in at all, certainly not until we know more about them and what their motives are.

I certainly don't want to see Richard Murray leave Charlton, the man has been a legend and loves the club.

The performance tonight, against a decent side, was completely what you'd expect, endeavour but not enough quality.
  • Definitely don't want a consortium to come in. I'd feel like a complete hypocrite after my thoughts over Chelsea et al. We probably need some investment but let's keep Murray because I really think while he's still there at least we know he has god intentions.

We deserved to go down but now with Pardew and a bit of stability we've got a chance - but yes we seriously need new players and fast because the quality of performances this season have been dreadful.
  • I hear all your comments about Murray et al but lets face it we will never compete with the big clubs without a huge investor....I've been living over here for 20 years and look at what has happened to the Docklands with Canary Wharf ,Greenwich etc.... We are within touching distance of the hub of the financial world. I believe we could be a huge club what with our geographical location and would probably be very attractive to some investors. Would you like the last 2 -3 years Chelsea have had ( not that it would happen) ? If we ever won the prem or even break into the top 6 or win the FA cup. I would die a happy man. Sorry I know a lot of you are against a consortium or overseas investor but sadly its the way the game is going. Sink or swim.
  • Depends on what they have in mind, doesn't it? If they just want to buy the ground for housing and then move us out to cheaper land on the Greenwich Peninsula then most would be against it. On the other hand, if they want to really build the club up to the next level with a 40,000 stadium to be the biggest club south of the Thames then it would be good.
  • Hopefully they want to give us bundles of cash whilst leaving Mr Murray in charge of the day to day running of the club
