I'm going to 'reply all' if I get one stating my intentions not to renew my season ticket, urge the others copied in to do the same, and then advise them to protest at the Blackburn game. This could be a massive PR disaster.

Which part of DPA are you referring to? this type of comment is bandied around a lot - without justification.
I think this instance is fairly cut and dried
Displaying the 47 other email addresses would be a breach of the Data Protection Act, particularly if an individual can be identified by their email address (i.e joe.bloggs@company.com)
An individual can complain to the information commissioner who can issue an enforcement notices and I believe the 48 people concerned would be entirely within their rights to submit a complaint.
An individual may also obtain compensation under section 13 of the Data Prevention Act due to a breach which has caused them damage (which has to be proven). An individual can also claim compensation for "distress" caused by a breach, but again only if the individual has also suffered proven damage.
This distress of the embarrassment that resulted after being publicly outed as a Charlton fan at the moment...
I think we need to excuse Katie - the questions are for her manager and the chief executive to answer. Clearly a professional organisation should not be doing this, but it's management - or the lack of it - that needs to be held to account.

If it is the Katie that I think it is, she has been very helpful to me over the years with various requests such as arranging numerous Mascots for my Son, tickets, etc. and has carried out these very well. If she has progressed to Marketing then good on her, I wish her well and the very best of luck. That said, at the very least she should get some support, training, etc. from her Management Team....if she indeed has any.

Until the current regime who are killing my football club leave, I have no intention of lining their pockets, and will make it my goal to tell everybody I know not to line their pockets either.

I've had a phone call (to ask if he was attending) and my son has had three letters from the club in the last month. I don't know if their ticketing system is up and running yet but if they look into it they will see that he has only attended one game all season. What a great investment his season ticket was this year.
The last letter could be described as a begging letter asking him to come to The Valley and bring his family and his friends. In truth the cost of the 'bribe' to get him to come to football now has risen to the price of a brand new PS4 game. Needless to say he will not be attending again this season and I don't think I will bother with his season ticket even if we stay up. I'll not be bothering with mine if we go down as I think I'd only end up going half a dozen times in the third division so the season ticket wouldn't be worth it.
I feel for those working at the club and trying their best. The lady that called to ask if we (mainly my son) were going to the Forest game almost laughed when I said he'd lost interest. I go the impression that this wasn't a revelation to her. She was very polite and I wasn't at all aggressive with her.
I fear that this period of ownership will cost us more young fans than the move to Selhurst. This is compounded by the massive increase in things for children to do now that didn't exist in the mid 80s.

The part that requires data holders to 'you to process personal data fairly and lawfully'. Even if all 48 had given permission to share with external third parties, which seems unlikely, the club has to 'handle people’s personal data only in ways they would reasonably expect'. I don't think that includes sending out everyone's email addresses on an a message about cheap tickets.
It sums up just how shabby the business operation at the club is at the moment. Any decent club in this day will have a CRM database that will have the ticketing feed etc running into it so they know who is a season ticket holder, who has bought a match ticket, who hasnt etc etc.
The fact they just lump it all together and say 'if you are attending, great, if not well why not' is just so amateur. Any company with decent marketing and comms would have separated the two groups and targeted them in different ways.
And that's without even getting onto the fact they've just copied in others, which has to be a serious breach of data protection?
But do we not 'give them' our email address when we order season tickets, for example? Which unless we sign a disclaimer can be used anyway?
In fairness, I suspect the marketing department are being pounded to get bums on seats and are trying anything. That's their job.
That said, it's a poor email and openly copying other email addresses must blow a massive hole in the Data Protection Act.
Why not reply all, so the club and the other 47 receive it, sending details of the next protest and thanking the club for giving you a forum to communicate with other disgruntled fans. That is likely to light a firework or two ...

I think the reason it's just under 50 addressees is that this is a general spam threshold. The message will have been sent to people who have previously brought groups. If anyone wants to, ahem, utilise, this data then it may be worth comparing notes to see if they have the same addressees, but i doubt if there is a) just one list or b) more than a few.
