Alternative to a boycott

How about boycotting a specific 1st team game and then as many as possible turn up to watch the under 21's? It would get the media's attention if a few thousand turned up and show our contempt for the Fraye circus.

You would be better off just standing outside the ground for 90 mins
  • I like it. I've always taken a it if pride from our youth team.

The only problem is that nearly all of the under 21's will be playing in the 1st team game that you suggest a boycott of. ;)

well it would be shoving Pinnochio's words down her throat...watching the Premier league stars of tomorrow, instead of the circus clowns manipulating the first team....anyway, its just a thought.

"Roland, the plan is working - they love watching the 'Premier League stars of tomorrow' so much that they've all started coming to U21 games! Shall we finally dispense with the first team altogether?"

People keep talking about boycotts but I think they are basically impossible in reality. The home areas are already about 2/3 empty. Say we have 7,000 home supporters actually attending games at the moment, the absolute best you could hope for - and this would take an extraordinary amount of effort, planning and co-ordination - would be to knock a couple of thousand off of that number. Does that really have the impact to justify the effort and use of our finite resources required ?

"Let's all boycot and do xxx instead (we've had stand outside for the 90, go to a youth game and go and watch Welling all suggested) sounds great on a message board but I fear it's almost impossible to organise in real life.

The pre and post game protests are having an impact, you saw them wheel Murray out last week for a nonsense of a q&a that was designed to re-assure the media which was almost immediately undermined by the Trust. They are feeling the heat. They are getting desperate. Let's stay the course and get behind the protests, not split the supporter base with a potentially divisive and ultimately unrealistic boycott.

Protests before and after every home game will work in time. The owner managers CEO will all cave in to pressure eventually. You're all invested in this because were all here for life. 'We will overcome.'
  • I would be up for a boycott but as said above, plenty won't so may not have as big an impact. I would also be up for leaving after 50 mins of a game or so which would visually have quite an effect if enough did it. Issue would be that the fickle nature of fans would see plenty stay if we were winning (as unlikely as that is!).
