  • As a Player - Expect to have the enthusiasm and talent sucked out of you like a shit ballon from a cracker
As a Fan - Prepare to be Excited, Expect to be let down.
  • "To have previously been of sufficient quality"

  • Belgian delusions of adequacy.
  • Either;
Good player arrives at Charlton becomes rubbish.
Seemingly crap player leaves Charlton > becomes other team club hero.

  • JBG and Simon Francis being topical examples arguably.

As a man of few words, the term "Charltonised" i always associate with being "shite"

  • 90 mins of being moaned at once a fortnight until all self belief has gone then joins another club and finds form.
  • For me its someone who was rated at one club... Joins us and within a handful of matches is the worst player on the planet
  • A player who you believe could offer something different to what the current squad could offer e.g a bit of flair or a real eye for goal.

Soon Charltonised when the flair dissapears, gets caught offside 6 times a game and scores every 8 games
  • Failing to polish a turd
  • Rewriting the laws of physics- for example appointing one disastrous manager after another, giving the impression of continual decline when in fact it is continuing improvement we are witnessing.

We are through the looking glass people.....
  • Fastest Charltonisation of a player ever?

Bergdich. A turd to start off with, and now a bigger turd.

Good shout. An obviously decent player but utter toilet in a Charlton shirt.

  • Marcus Bent - or was he a turd to start off with?
  • Djimi T - Champions League winner to Charlton reject in a couple of seasons.

  • 'they used to be alright, but now they are shite....'
  • Marcus Bent - or was he a turd to start off with?

He started off alright (think it was 2 goals in first 3 games). Then we saw the real Marcus Bent.
  • A good player who has the ability to under perform for Charlton, but can be transferred to another club and once again magically find his feet. Example: Simon Francis

Even better example would be Alan "Oxo Tower" McCormack.

Could not get a game for us in League One and three years later could be found absolutely bossing the midfield for Brentford at The Valley in the Championship.

The lad has got a bit of a spark about him.
