Its all about the people at The Valley; I love it that when we lose or draw and should have won there is something akin to a Buddha-esque acceptance of the situation whilst waiting to get up the stairs in the East Stand and that when we win I can turn around to anyone and talk about the game, the goal, the whatever. These things happen in all grounds I am certain but they are certainly awesome at Charlton as there is no smug arrogance like at some other clubs.
Despite being labelled by some detractors as 'a bunch of fascists' and 'an abuse of democracy', Charlton fans ran an election campaign that was novel, imaginative...and hugely successful. We said: 'Vote Valley on May 3rd 1990'. 14,838 decent folk did so.
Supporting this club is something special, it really is. I've lost that in recent times, but I'm starting to find it again, (everyone has a breaking point). I've met some of the best people in my life due to this club, and had some of my finest days following them. It's been far too easy to walk away this season, and it's left a massive void. I have no desire to support the current ruling regime, but equally I don't want to let them win, it's a difficult one. But the subject of this thread is "awesome things about Charlton Athletic" so I'll list them for me... Friends, Away days you should never go to, Chris Powell leading us to a league title, Mark Kinsella leading us to playoff glory, Darren Bent being too good for us, Scott Parker destroying Frank Lampard and Claude Makelele at the Valley, Claus Jensen scoring against Blackburn after Brad Friedel equalised. Carlisle away. Laughing at Millwall but never beating them, smashing Arsenal 4-2 at Highbury, being that much better than a big club, all in all I love this club, I don't want to lose that, let's win her back!

The ground is really close to the station, no having to walk through the length of a shithole like Middlesbrough to get to it.

- it's my local team and we have dropped to a level we have got rid of plastic fans.
- we made the first ever substitute
- we played the best game to ever be played at Wembley
- the vast majority of the low paid, hard working, conscientious staff at the club
- we have appeared in Only Fools and Horses and Dennis Penis.
- we have never ripped off the St Johns Ambulance
Note to self, never post on Charlton Life drunk!
