Memo from KM to RD Hi Rolly all going well here. They did a draw for this cup thing yesterday. I think it's the AF cup. Anyway we play a team called Colchester. But Rolly I have learnt something. We only play in round 3. I have found out when we get out of the Championship we get to play in round 1 and 2- so more games. If we really go out of the League we could get 5 or 6 more games, now that is really commercial sense. Just think home to Staines or someone will sell out- I really am getting good ideas. Also Rolly those 2 supporters that protest appear to have been won over. They like you so much they want you on top of the tree. In fact I saw one yesterday carrying a Christmas tree, he said " I want to stick this up Roland's ar-se" I have ordered the 3 more sofas, the injured players can sit on them. I am worried about Richard M, he really is going senile. I said look at those empty seats at the last game. RM said that a few years back, CAFC were in the Premier League( laugh) and every home game was sold out. But even funnier RM said they had a manager that stayed for 17 years,I think he meant months. And he said this manager, bought the players he wanted, trained them, gave them the tactics and was in charge( no point in that what would I have to do Rolly) RM said they finished in the top half-he really is in a dream world. Anyway bye for now Rolly
Wishing you a Merry Christmas and hoping that 2016 will bring you a job more suited to your skillset. After 53 years of support you won't be getting any more from me until you have found that job. CAFC forever.
What exactly is the point in sending a Christmas card to them? It's just going to get chucked in the bin and no one will know it's even happened.
Chucked in the bin - quite possible
No one will know it's even happened - Not so. Someone has to open the post and read it before deciding to bin it. Even if they bin them all the message is that enough Charlton fans care enough to write to them.
Will it bring the walls of Jericho down all by its self? No, of course not.
Is it one small part of an on-gong campaign that everyone can join in with? Yes
Merry Christmas! Thanks to yourselves I have more time to see my family over the festive period, cheers for that.
Like many I am sick of the spin, lies, mistreatment of Charlton stalwarts, an abject transfer policy, lame gimmicks, under qualified coaches, and being told by a lawyer that ‘Roland knows best’. Therefore I refuse to further subsidise his experiment, and I can’t say I’ll be introducing my 4 year old niece to Charlton. Until things change I'll only be attending away games.
I explained in mine that while they may not be concerned that my Dad & a family friend both who have been going since the late 60s/early 70s are disillusioned with the feel of their club and that they might not even be concerned that I a fan of 20 years has got to the point were I have no desire to get to games at the Valley anymore(away games only for me currently) what they should be concerned about is that they are likely losing the next generation of Charlton fans, many of which would be introduced to the Charlton family by the older generations.
I can only speak for my own family but for the last year my brother(a very casual Charlton fan from the past) has been discussing starting to bring his three kids to the Valley, he has decided against this for now due to the goings on at the club.
I then finished by explaining that myself and my family could very easily be won over, not by the club going on a spending spree but by appointing a serious Manager, who has some job security and full or majority control on who the transfer budget is spent on, so that they can try to build a team with the ultimate goal of long term on the pitch success for Charlton.

Excellent.
Don't let them make excuses to themselves that crowds aren't dropping or it is only a few malcontents.
Or that they can attract young fans without older fans to bring them.

We don't want swearing or any rudeness as we said. Season of Good Will and all that.
Add to that the fact that rudeness or insulting language will have no effect. If you send a card it will be opened by a secretary, and go straight in the bin if it appears to be insulting. We have a desperate need to change things, we have to be much more clever in the way that we go about it.

Cheers Stig and agreed with this, I had to resist the urge to put in a few close to the mark jokes in mine, just kept it polite and to the point.
It may lead to nothing but it was worth the effort to try, got to keep up the fight as I don't wish to just walk away.

Polite and to the point asking for what change you want and for a reply.

I wonder how many Lifers have actually sent their cards ?

Keep it polite but make it direct.
