There was something that had me grinning yesterday amongst all that shambles. It should'nt have done, as it was the use of the "C" word. This fella was very animated about the referee's performance. He was trying to use as many adjectives as possible to describe this er item. The ref was a fat one, a bald one, a stupid one and an ugly one amongst other ones. The young lad next to me was resorted to a fit of giggles which started me off as well. After dinner speaking may not be this chaps forte me thinks.
you must' have been sitting very near me as that bloke was a couple of rows behind. My boy to had a fit of the giggles and enjoyed repeating every word to his mum.
Oh gawd. I hope your missus does not stop him going. Mind you...........
she's not going any more. She said 'she's not going to sit there freezing her tits off, watching shit and listening to a big mouth c*nt behind us.

Sorry, just lost a long post as the technology is refusing to let it be visible. Can't be arsed to type it all again as it was all a depressing rant anyway. The gist of it was that I agree with SHG's point above, Fox is shit and should be disposed of on loan or sold, Fraeye can piss off and at least half Of our support have their heads up their arses. Bag humbug.
@Iainambler . His tactics were the same as last week and the week before that, a 4-4-2 midfield diamond. Only this time Mick McCarthy is an experienced coach, armed with two scouting reports telling him we were going to play a Diamond in midfield, so he planned accordingly. Murphy won everything in the front line and the Ipswich midfield pulled the Diamond apart. When we had the ball, they matched up Man-for-man and stopped Diarra playing from midfield.
Chris Hughton will do the same next week at Brighton. So we'd better have a Plan B.
Spot on observation. This is the test for Fraeye. Can he adapt and Is there the squad available to enable Charlton to play a different way ? Fraeye reckons there is an adequate squad so it is down to him to motivate the players and come up with the tactical plan.
I would find it hard to say who was the worst player. There were no best. I dont give a toss who the manager is. At this level players should not need extra coaching to motivate them to play better than that.
Presumably, you didn't watch the game then ?
Lookman was clearly best & worst was a close fought contest between Fox, Sarr & Makienok.
hardened British pros used to championship v bunch of kids and overseas imports with no experience of British football, compounded with experienced British manager against foreign novice. Why are some surprised? JJ has won us 7 points almost single handedly recently with his goals. Let's hope he is not out for too long. Mak was very poor today but please lets not make him the new scapegoat. Lookman has enormous potential, but it is potential. The next 2 home games v Leeds and Bolton are crucial.
You watch Bolton come here and take something from us, like all the other teams around us have.

As we stand I expect us to be relegated. This group of players are not equipped for a relegation scrap and nor is the manager.
Is there any hope ? Only if we appoint an experienced manager and sign four decent championship hardened players in January.
I'm not expecting either to happen.
In league one our crowds will be down to 7000. It's a tough division to get out of and nigh on impossible with Roland persisting in his lunatic experiment.
Not sure where we go from here.
Duchatelet will make short term adjustments to his core approach, as he has in the past. That might even include an experienced manager until the end of the season, depending on the next few results. The question is whether it will be too little too late this time. But even if we survive he'll revert to the same nonsense again afterwards, I would think, because that's the only interest he has in owning the club.
The first goal is of paramount importance when you are in the bottom 6 of the table, and with the blatant push in the face of Solly before the first goal, and the deflection on the second we were done for.
How we missed the captain's influence after his early injury.
How many great experts on CL realized that Big Mak was going to have a game that nightmares are made of, when he has been instrumental in all our wins this season,(less so at Birmingham)
Patrick Bauer was struggling with a injury problem before Johnnie went off, Just what you need when your marking a 27 goal striker from last season.
As so many did their boycott and left before the last 10 minutes, the fact we had 4 good chances in the last 10 minutes, was better than the Preston and Brentford games when we threw the towel in.
The fact that the 2 youngest players of CAFC were the best for us, shows what a bad situation we are in.

Yep it's his ball and his rules sadly until he decides not to play anymore, tucks it under his arm and goes home. If only we could get him to play to our rules, keep up the good fight Airman.

As the woman's placard said at the London Climate Rally today..."There is no Planet B"
@jasoneuell: Disappointed about the result earlier. We showed how good we can be in periods, but being clinical made the difference IMO. We go again! #cafc
How fucking often have we got to hear this bollox. We go so bloody often but we never get anywhere! It sums up our team when the two best players were kids......they can all just fuck off!! The players that played, the manager, the ceo and the owner...just piss off!
having a go and now blaming Jason Euell must rank as the most stupid and idiotic post ever on Charlton life - and that takes some beating
Show me where I blamed Euell! We have some myopic tools on here and he calls my post idiotic. Just so you can understand Blind Pugh, I was having a pop at the phrase 'we go again' it's bullshit, means nothing and gives no indication on how they will make the team better and it's said after every embarassing loss. I do hope you can understand now.
OK I understand where you are coming from but your comment did directly relate to a Euell tweet unless I am mistaken. The bullshit is coming from KM. Anyway let's let it go;

This, despite all my pessimism I think we will stay up this season again but considering the exact same mistakes have made two seasons in a row now, do we really trust them to start learning on their third attempt next summer?

Personally I don't.
The point is RD doesn't see them as mistakes. He sees them as his plan working.
Keep the wages as low as you possibly can and if we're in relegation trouble, shell out a bit more for 6 months as opposed to 12 months.
Already said it on this thread, but I'll say it again. Fraeye is a one trick pony. His game plan was undone today and he didn't have an answer.
It'll be the same next week and the week after. We'll then nick a win somewhere and the clown will get the job.
I've said it since the second he was appointed he has no business coaching our club. He is an inexperienced clueless fool. He is Roland's mate though so we are stuck with him.
A yes man of the highest order.
Spot on (although not his fault he took the job, just the prat that offered it to him). It takes about a month for opposition to watch videos and work out how we play. A manager with such limited experience is unlikely to be able to adjust to the demands of the league. The next game will tell all.

Not only the next game.
Brighton and Burnley are very losable, I suppose you could say do not be surprised if we get nothing.
The clinchers are Leeds, Bolton and Bristol, all teams that are around us.
Come the 31st December I would imagine we will be in the bottom three.

My boy has just swapped Suarez for Makienok in his Fifa 2016. Amazingly Makienok scored in the first 10 minutes of the next game. If only he'd score in real life.

That's a terrific brainwashing job you've done on your lad.
Haven't read the whole of this thread as I was depressed enough after the game but I honestly didn't think it was one of our worst. The "men against boys" observations are well made and our mish-mash of kids and imports is sure to struggle but with Vaz Te on board I still think there's enough ability to avoid relegation - narrowly. Whether the unnecessarily thin squad has that ability too remains to be seen but without an experienced hand overseeing them it's going to too tight for comfort.
So, a few comments on the game itself:
Fox had one of his poorer games but never hid and still contributed. Sarr makes me nervous - just his body language in possession. JBG persevered and showed his skill at times but his distribution failed him regularly. Lookman has pace, skill, and vision, and no shortage of tenacity. Shame he had to carry the attack. THD did really well; strong, quick, skillful. Vaz Te looked very promising; saw the game well and nearly scored twice. And now our big No.9 - to quote Ipswich fans, "are you a man or a woman?". I can accept the errors made by eg Fox because of the endeavour. I can't accept the pathetic posturing of a 6'7" "striker" who didn't have the will or the ability to attack a single cross. Pathetic.
Posting without reading. Here are my thoughts on the say as a whole. I will try to keep my use of exclamation marks to a minimum!
Nice to be able to get to a game for the first time in a while! Was good to meet a few lifers in person before the game and I hope meeting "the happy man" lived up to expectations! (although AFKA did say "I thought you were older").
Was giving out posters before the game and these were generally well received. There was the odd idiot who felt the need to make a comment/confront. The whole point of a proportionate protest is that if you don't agree with it you don't take part! So just say no thanks and walk on. No need to start shouting at a young guy who is just trying to help out! But as I said mostly well received, even by a few Ipswich fans I spoke to. Also explained to a policeman on a horse what the 2% is all about. To the guy who was giving out posters, shouting jokes about black Friday sales and 2% off stuff - if you are on here, you sir are hilarious. Made my day!
On to the protest itself, seemed to go well on the whole and thanks to all who joined in. The crowd was a bit sparse and that probably made the protest look less than it really was. And I think the empty seats are more telling about our situation. I am told it received good coverage on TV by the cameras and the commentators and apparently KM looked less than comfortable. Seems like the aims were pretty much achieved. I would like to take this opportunity to apologise to the old boy sitting behind me in the north lower block B. He clearly didn't agree with the protest so as soon as I stood up with the posters he started off with "Siddarn! Trying to watch the game" etc I waited till the end of the minute then turned and gave it to him with both barrels, (not so happy now am i?) About caring for the club and doing something about it etc.. I should have just moved seats (there were plenty available) or just kept my mouth shut! So sorry for that. Hope I didn't ruin your day. The emotion of the day rather caught up with me.
Onto the main event. I thought the line up was about right and we matched them for the first 10/15. As soon as JJ went off we looked short of leadership, no one communicated and heads began to fall immediately. I expected Diarra to step up in a leadership/ keeping everyone on it capacity but nope he seemed to go off the boil as much as the next man. Also why was Ba not brought on for JJ was the obvious choice... We were pretty dire for the rest of the first half and their first goal was coming... shocking defensive play all round we had 7/8 opportunities to get it out the danger area but each time we sent it straight back to an attacker! I missed the second goal coz I was desperate for a wiz.... I did enjoy the comedy moment when THD was egged on to shoot by the crowd and ends up giving it everything he had right into Mr Gudmundssons midriff hilarious!
Being Mr optimistic I came out for the second half saying well all the goals will be at our end. But I was wrong the second half really was a shower of shite, I saw a couple of people in the flats closing their curtains so they didn't have to watch the dross that was served up! And I don't blame them. Pity the mugs (us) that pay to watch that! Defense was all over the place! Was sat with a Gills fan and he is certain that on that display Harry lennon is a cut above both our CBs. I'm of the opinion he should have a chance next game! While I am on the subject of my mate, before the game I tried explaining the point of the protest to him and he didn't get it. By the end of the game after him asking questions (who is your manager? Why's he just a head coach? Where did he come from? Why are you chanting Tony watt? Etc) he got it! We looked scared to shoot and we're trying to walk the ball into the net which was never going to happen. I found myself shouting "just put your bloody foot through the thing!" Reza was the only one who wanted to shoot! In in the end we had 3 very good chances all prevented by an inspired goalie.
Want to say a few words about big Mak. Whilst I will agree he had an absolute stinker you cannot say he didn't try. He clearly gave it everything and really wanted it and he was visibly annoyed that nothing he tried came off! And then the more frustrated he got the less came off. Often be was the only man in the box and was still blamed for not beating the three defenders and getting on the end of a cross. But everything he tried went wrong today I guess everyone has them once in a while! He mistimed his jumps and he would go far post and the ball would go near. Next time he'd make a run when he should have stayed and vice versa! There was the other comedy moment when the long ball from their keeper missed Mak and hit their guy in the face and he went down. It soon turned sour as the ref gave a foul against Mak and he didn't like it. He looked like he was about to punch the ref and in that respect I felt like joining him. This is where Diarra should have stepped in and defused the situation. He didn't he stood there like a lemon and let it happen. Mak should have been taken off at this point, he was too far gone to make any difference. But Fraeye let him stay on for another 15/20 mins. When a player is having a game like that it's better to just pull him off than to leave him out there..
The Tony watt song made me chuckle. And I did join in the get out of our club chants even though that isn't my view. But I will never boo the players! I stood and clapped them off. At the time it felt like an act of defiance to the owner. Now I just feel like an idiot.

Looking at the table, it's unlikely we will be stranded at Christmas, but in the bottom 3 or at best the bottom 6. Bolton have no win in 11, Huddersfield no win in 6, while the other teams around us have the same number of wins in the last 10 matches as we have.
The 2 home games vs Leeds and Bolton in 4 days are crucial though. Our midweek form is shocking though...
So according to the FL highlights, our "highlight" or the first half was a long range shot that hit our own player who then fell over to a round of cheers. Brilliant.
