Charlton are delighted to confirm that Johnnie Jackson has penned a one-year contract extension, which will keep him with the club until at least the summer of 2017.
The skipper, who bagged his 50th Addicks goal in the 1-0 win at Birmingham City last Saturday, has been in excellent form this season.
Jackson initially joined Charlton on loan in the 2009/10 season. The following summer, he put pen to paper on a permanent deal in SE7, with his first goal for the club coming against Dagenham & Redbridge on September 25th, 2010.
He was appointed as captain for the 2011/12 campaign and led the Addicks to the League One title, scoring 13 league goals along the way, with notable free-kicks coming in 1-0 wins against promotion rivals Sheffield Wednesday and Sheffield United in the space of seven days in January.
The following year, he again hit double figures as the club enjoyed a hugely successful first season back in the Championship, finishing ninth, and 12 months on the skipper again played a pivotal role as the club staved off relegation back to League One.
He nodded home a dramatic winner in stoppage time against Queens Park Rangers at The Valley, a moment he cites as the best single moment of his Charlton career, and also bagged the decisive goal as Charlton secured their second-tier status against Watford in April.
This season, the 33-year-old made his 200th appearance for the club at Derby County, while last weekend’s match-winning header made him the 25th man to hit 50 goals for the club.
Chief Executive Katrien Meire said: “We are delighted that Johnnie has agreed to extend his contract. As well as continuing to lead by example on the pitch, he is a fantastic ambassador for the club off of it.
“I am very pleased that Johnnie has committed himself to another season at the club.”
Brilliant news. Was expecting this to be something that would be left undecided until towards the end of the season or maybe the summer, but his recent performances have probably pushed it up the agenda.
' Aswel as his role on the pitch, Jackson has also been given the job of interim club peacemaker, with the option of a further year in 2017, when the club are languishing 19th in league 1 due to Roland not investing another penny into the playing squad'.

Well done skipper.
One of the only shining lights in a shower of shit.
My feeling of connection with the club is hanging by a thread. It would be a fair metaphor to say Jacko was that thread.
Delighted.
Get these Contract issues out early so we don't have to mess around in the Summer and can concentrate on bringing in new players
Trouble is his legs have gone though
Nice one Jacko.
Great stuff, JJ !
But the obvious timing by the club the day before the protests is laughable.
He offers something else and you have to allow for his lack of pace.
Nice one Jacko
He can't say it's a good decision because he hates Jacko and he can't say it's a bad one because that would be slagging off KM! :-)
