I was watching The Theory of Everything the other day and noticed that Frank Leboeuf pops up as a Swiss doctor. It got me wondering how many other footballers have lit up the silver screen - or even trod the boards. I guess Vinnie Jones and Eric Cantona would be the highest profile ones, at least in recent years. Whilst half the Ipswich team got in on the act in 1981. Are there any others?

    Pele has done a couple. Hotshot was another he was in.

    Ian Wright was in a really bad movie called Son of the black gun or something equally silly.

    Vinnie Jones got Robert Duvall into football while shooting Gone in 60, and soon after Duvall made a movie with Ally McCoist called Shot at Glory.

    The real question is, which footballers have been in good films? Cantona in Looking For Eric is up there. Jones in Gone in 60, Snatch and Lock Stock.

    David Beckham featured in one the Goal films, and if i remember correctly Greame Souness was in Boys from the black stuff.

    Didn't those "Goal" films from a few years back have a load of cameo appearance by all the big names - Ronaldo, Zidane, Beckham, etc?

    Actually, I believe that Steve McLaren might be in Theory of Everything as well. Only a bit part though, sitting in the audience at a speech.

    Saw him in UK milfs dogging, was a good film but plot wasn't up to much

    I've heard this as well, apparently he dies in the first scene.

    That said, no idea if this is true. It's one of those random facts you hear down the pub (or in my case The Football Ramble), but no one can ever verify because no one is certain that Basic Instinct 2 even exists.
