Lloyd Doyley

He has joined on a non contract basis according to Ketts.

"Lloyd Doyley, who has been training with the club for the last few weeks, has signed on a non-contract basis, and was included in the extended squad for the Wednesday game. Ironocally, had he made the final 18, Doyley would probably have come on to replace the injured Chris Solly.

Doyley may be involved against his former club Watford, in Tuesday's Premier League Under-21 cup tie at St Albans.

Do not be surprised if there is another arrival or two before the Ipswich game either."

Agree with Henry. Good solid experienced signing. Can't really fault him coming him.

Allows Diarra to remain in Centre Midfield as means we'd have cover if we somehow lost two Centre-Backs within quick succession

This the fella that Callum Harriot last season 'skilled up' ??

    Good.

Experienced player who knows this league.

OK, not "exciting" but can play anywhere across the back and we are short of defensive cover.

Wonder who the other two might be.

Could finally be those loan signings from Bournemouth..........................................
Don't fancy their pace much if they're just getting here now

Or even if we lost 1, seeing that we had no spare CB on Saturday!

If we had lost either Bauer or Sarr on Saturday then Diarra could still have dropped back

But then we'd have lost him from midfield, and everyone seems to agree that we need him there.

Obviously needed another right back, got another right back. Doyley has bags of experience but is old enough that he won't expect to play every week, which is good because he obviously won't be replacing Solly. Good signing

Elliott Ward? He returned to Bournemouth after being injured at Huddersfield. Now Powell has gone I doubt he will be returning north.

Do we have a scout then? Did I miss this news?

Believe he's the academy head scout who's filling in.

It was announced that Mark Stow was doing the scouting for the first team after Chapple left.

Sounds like a hard working honest pro. Short term deal and we need cover. What's not to like.

Absolutely makes sense as cover for Solly. Not a marquee signing ( do we ever have them?) but a practical one.

Good pro, but he's not up to it any more. Not up to what we need and is another desperate signing because the board, and Katrien Meire fell short in the summer in the numbers and quality needed. Again.

This. I am sure he will do a decent job for us when called upon.

I've absolutely got no problem with this signing.

Would the scout traditionally do the pre-match snooping on the upcoming opposition as well ?

Yes all our signings are going to be desperate signings from now on, it's how they perform that matters though.

Still only 32 which surprised me.

The reality is that most loan players have some sort of "baggage" as we know only too well.

This bloke has been a one club man which suggests he fits well into a squad. If he has properly recovered from that neck injury (his "baggage") he could prove to be a useful man to have around the squad even if he probably wouldn't make a theoretical strongest X1.

The proof of the pudding and all that but on paper successive managers have signed far worse loan signings than this one.

He might not be Mr Right but he is Mr Right now.

    Fair enough.

As long as he has had his new arsehole repaired that Callum Messi tore him, then he should be good to go.

East Ender .. a VERY experienced addition to the squad .. one of those who's been around for ages, played lots of games and always has slipped under the radar .. welcome Lloyd and all the very best of luck

Should change our name to Interim Athletic. Hopefully, he's an interim owner as well.
